Does anyone have suggestions to what chopping blades are good to use? I want to be a two winged Chopper that has alot of control, but have some loopings capabilities. I heard Butterfly Matsushita Pro Special, Joola Toni hold white spot, butterfly Joo Se Hyuk and Donic Defplay are good chopping blades. I am looking for a blade that has good backspin (flex). and is it good to have a large head on a blade for choppers?

How is the flex and how soft is the blade? Is it considered a DEF- or DEF or DEF+? Can I loop decent with it?

Thats a pretty open ended question. People will have opinions on all kinds of blades. Which is the best chopper? Which is the best looper? Which does the best together. It all comes down to you. I have tried a crap load of chopping blades.

Bty Mat Pro
Bty Joo
Bty Def II
Nittaku Monophonic
Dr. Barricade
Dr. Special
Stiga Allround Oversize
Joola Chen Weixing
Joola Toni Hold
TSP Reflex 50 Defence
Donic Defplay Senso
Donic Waldner Diablo Senso
Victas Koji Matsushita

And probably others I have forgotten about. They are all pretty good blades. Some better than others. There are two on that list that I really didn't like at all. That would be the two Joola blades.

I guess what I'm trying to say is trial by error is pretty much how we all got to be where we are. RR thinks the Donic Defplay is a great blade. I think it's just OK.
I took 4 blades one night put the same rubber on all and had a chop off. It was all the Bty blades and my Victas. At the end of the night all the people I played said the same thing. The Victas was the hardest to play against. Had a very flat throw and lots of spin. But on the other side this blade can be a handful to control. But the trade off is OK for me.

So there you have it. What do you want from your blade?

Simply a great blade, used by many Chinese national team members... Check out Fan Ying and Wu Yang videos on Youtube, the world's two best female choppers:

Wu Yang, Fan Ying and Wang Wei use regular Defplay Senso, not Defplay Classic Senso... It's kind of confusing to most people, because many sellers don't even know the difference themselves, and mixed up pictures of both on their website. Regular Defplay Senso is faster and weights about 85g instead of 70g.
Wu Yang used Friendship 802 w/1.5mm sponge on her bh for most of her earlier matches, but has switched to TSP Spectol 21 w/1.5mm sponge.

OX means no sponge... For chopping, I would suggest LP w/0.4-0.6mm sponge to start. Long pips w/ thin sponge is more durable for pure chopping than ox, but ox is fine too... Get the 388D w/ the thinnest sponge possible if you can. :)

I really dont have a lot of money to be trying a lot of blades... I am not sure what kind of blade I want but, I chop 85% of the time and the other 15% topspin loop. I am looking for a blade that has a lot of control, great spin, maybe soft to medium soft. But it still has a decent attacking capabilities. I like to chop about 3 feet away from table. Why didnt you like the Toni hold?

Does the Donic Def senso have a big head like Joo? in your opinion do you still think it can attack decently?

Yes, it's about the same size (big!). It's slower than Joo blade, so you'd need good technique (i.e. using proper waist rotation) to apply power to your point-ending attacks.

What rubbers do you suggest using with donic defplay? I want a LP for bh and inverted rubber fh.

i've been playing with the defplay. i do not have much to compare it to, but it is a fun blade to play with. if this blade is slow, then i can't even fathom what a fast blade is like...
