Hi there, last training I had the chance to test two OSP blades (http://ospblades.com/). I seldom saw such nicely manufactired blades - really impressive handwork! Both are covered with MilkyWay Apollo I Medium 1,9mm, and Spinlord Dornenglanz OX pips on backhand. OSP Immune Active Def: Medium large defensive blade, quite thin and wooden all through. Nice finish with soft outer veneer. But I didn't start to like it - it's very slow with a high bounce, and you feel its vibrations in each finger. Maybe an oldscool defence player will love it, but its nothing for near the tables pips players. Thus I dismissed after some minutes - the Immune and I will never be friends! OSP Expert All+: Thicker and smaller than the Immune, the Expert has hard, dark Limba veneers. It's definitely a blade for offensive players, offering a great feeling and appropriate speed. I'd say Off- instead of All+. As the Immune its bounce is quit high, but contrary to this the Expert is easy to control and I mastered it very early. Because I had to close the blade a bit, the topspins got more spin and my partner had many problems to block them. The block with pimples is very good, too - but its faster than my beloved NSD, thus some blocks got behind the table. But its very controlled and I love its feeling. I'm really impressed - maybe I'll order the Expert with an larger blade to slower it a bit. At first you see some counter, from 2min I'll do some topspins (and you get some impression of its trajectory), and from 3:45 I block some topspins. |

Very nice, thanks Variatio! Those are not combinations blades are they, ie. the same on both sides, right? |

You're right - the veneers are symmetrically glued. As the abbreviation 'OSP' says, the blades are designed as old stiga (palatinus) blades. I don't know if Stiga did ever combination blades - if thats the case they are not really famous. |

Yes I know the brand... I have one myself and they are quite impressive. Yes I don't know of any Stiga combination blades either, but I think OSP no longer bases their designs on Stiga blades, as they have the skills to designs their own blades, so they can probably come up with something quite unique. |

How did you get an OSP Immune? since you don't like it, do feel like selling it ? |

I gave my second OSP Immune right away to Variatio for testing without playing it myself before. This was a fault, because this second blade was not allright. It sounds very different from the first one and it doesn't play as well as my first one. OSP will provide me with a replacement sample and I will return this peculiar sample. So unfortunately the performance of the Immune in Variation's video is far from the real potential of the Immune. I am playing the Immune now for about 2 months; at the moment with Desperado/OX and Haifu Shark II Soft 1.9mm and it performs excellently ! p.s. I play close to the table with my LP-backhand. |

How much difference is there to play with a larger blade like 165x159 vs a 155x150 blade? |

I believe there are three versions of the immune. One is: immune (plain), the next: immune active and the last: immune ox. The last one is supposed to be for at the table blocking. I always wanted to try it but, too expensive for me. |

RadivS wrote: How much difference is there to play with a larger blade like 165x159 vs a 155x150 blade? Probably depends a lot on your style of play. I'm switching often between defence and attack and an oversized blade feels restrictive to me. But otherwise I do like the characteristics of defensive blades. I just have to cut them down a bit. |
