I think this is a very promising defensive blade from Japan, designed by Koji Matsushita. The young and talented defensive player Yuto Muramatsu plays it. [Edit march 2013: Muramatsu changed to Joo Sae Hyuk blade in the second half of 2012]

Some characteristics:
Blade Dimensions: 156 x 165
Handle dimensions: 100 x 30 x 23
Weight: 88g
Composition: 5 plies of wood
Estimated hardness: medium-soft
Estimated flex: medium
Speed: 3/5, certainly not slow
Control: superb control

I found chopping with red Palio CK531 ox very controlled and was able to keep chops very low. Blade is not too flexy and has no excessive vibrations. I first tried Globe 999T on the forehandside, but this felt too hard & heavy for me. With the lighter & softer LKT Pro XP weight, speed, spin & control are in perfect balance, topspin from a distance went well too.

I am curious about the exact wood composition and estimation of hardness & flex. Does anyone recognize the striped wood ply? Could the core be ayous? [Edit March 2013: Outer plies are Limba, medial plies are Japanese Cedar Fir, core probably Ayous]

The striped ply would be kiso hinoki... certainly looks like it.

if you are referring to the outer ply, I do not think it is hinoki.

I have been using that blade for awhile now and think it is probably one of the better pure chopping blades out there. He's a VERY low throw with the P1r on 1.0 sponge. Some other choppers were putting balls into the net because of the throw is so low. This is a blade I will be using for awhile.

I agree, I was referring to the striped ply, which does not look like it's the outer ply.

Here are two whole blade pictures. You can also find additional info about the blade elsewhere on OOAK

I found a link with pictures of the Xiom Fuga that at first sight has a similar wood composition and thickness as the Victas, Fuga's composition is koto-spruce-ayous-spruce-koto:

Second ply can also be the striped (Japanese!) Kiso Hinoki, as Haggisv mentions.

Can't compare Victas with the Butterfly Matsushitas, but I assume the Butterflies are softer and a bit slower.

I dont Think Its Hinoki, because the blade is kind of hard...

The brand Victas was created by Koji Matsushita and the Victas Koji Matsushita blade is nothing else than the Matsushita Pro Model from BTY with a different badge...

For the Matsushita blade : 5 plies / Thickenss : 5,4mm / Dimensions : 165 x 155 mm / Handle : ST and FL
Victas : http://www.victas-jp.com/home/blade/KojiMatsushita.html you'll see that the characteristics are the same.

I'll try this blade in a few weeks.....

Cheers,
Ma'man

No they are not the same...

Someone already post pictures of both, and they are different wood composition

The Victas Koji is supposed to be the copy of the Matsushita Pro Model with the same wood composition and same dimensions...

Since it's not a copy of the Matsushita Pro Model, I think we can safely assume it's not supposed to be a copy of it either.

Cheers.

Post subject:  Re: TSP Victas Koji Matsushita

:) Good point, roar. Differences between the two are clear in this link: viewtopic.php?f=43&t=18970
There are hundreds of blades with same size, thickness and number of plies. Victas has a different wood composition than Matsushita Pro and feels harder.
