Hmmm, I'm designing a blade atm, so any thoughts would be highly appreciated.

Firstly I noticed my W-1 has a fair bit more feeling than more carbons since the carbon layers are under a 0.3mm limba ply then a 0.9 ayous ply.

But most of Butterfly's blades prefers to have the fibre layer before the ayous, eg

koto, arylate/carbon, ayous, tung, ayous, arylate/carbon, koto

basically my Q is how much difference in feel does this switching in ply order account for?

P.S. all EJs should realised straight away that the above composition is of the TBS :P

ALSO: I have a couple of ideas which do you think is best?

1) limba, ayous, A/C, tung, A/C, ayous, limba

2) limba, A/C, ayous, tung, ayous, A/C, limba

3) limba, Uni-axle carbon, tung, A/C, limba

4) limba, A/C, tung, arylate, limba

I'm actually getting Sword to make it for me.

So now I can say "designed in Australia" like those Dawei ones (designed in japan lol).

I had a few blades made as a trial (not by sword). There is a lot to it... choosing the woods, thickness and order makes quite a difference, so it won't be easy, but you might get lucky... One thing that you won't know is the quality of the wood, which is also quite important, but it's fun to have go

You guys are really trying everything, aren't you. I have never ever dream of making and designing my own blade, simply amazing.

I have a feeling that most of the butterfly cores are Kiri, not tung. Not sure what the exact dfference is.

Anyway, 2) is otherwise known as a Michael Maze blade.

moving the a/c deeper *should* soften up the surface feel. Will probably also decrease short game speed. May also decrease overall top end slightly.

The last two blades I made, I got some real thin fiberglas cloth from the body shop and put it under the top layer of wood. FAST!!! :D
