Why are BUTTERFLY'S JUN MIZUTANI SUPER ZLC OFF+ BLADE & ZHANG JIKE SUPER ZLC OFF+ BLADE £350 ($440) ? What makes them so expensive other than Butterfly's over-inflated prices?

Other than the crazy bty pricing in general, szlc is the latest magic stuff from the premiere brand so it has to be priced much higher than last year's magic stuff. Also a lot of people enjoy talking about how much their setup cost.

There is a zj szlc with anatomic handle for sale now for $265 on another forum by a reputable seller. You would have to pay extra for shipping to uk. For blades buying nearly new is a good way to experiment as you can usually resell at a modest loss. It's like a rental.

BH: Tibhar FXS 1.8
And meanwhile you can buy an all wood Korbel for 10% of the price and most players would play better!

Corporate greed and market demand. Sales must be meeting their expectations otherwise they would cease to manufacture them or lower the price.

Yes, it was a few years back when Butterfly suddenly started increasing their pricing dramatically.... I believe it coincided with a change in management at the top level. It was soon after when they introduced their restriction on distributors as well.
There was no sudden increase in quality, so I do think they decided to increase prices, simply because they could.

They do seem to have continued this trend every year... and people continue to buy it, presumably thinking that the most expensive equipment must be the best... so Butterfly will no doubt continue on this trend.

There is no doubt that the top end of the Butterfly range is high quality... but so is are the top end of many of the other brands, where you can find something very similar, for about half the price (for blades).
