Has anyone used these? Are they on the stiffer side?

Generally every 7 ply blade is stiff...hinoki makes it nice and soft though.

I have a 7p-2a. It's not "hard" at all (i.e. makes a nice, dull "thunk" sound, doesn't ring like a carbon blade). Very light - mine was 73.5 grams. It's actually quite a bit slower than my N11 blades.

Not sure what "stiff" means - I have yet to come across any of these mythical "bend like a rainbow" blades I keep hearing about.

I also have a Nittaku Septear and three Yinhe Kiso 7 blades (these are my favorite among the 7 ply Hinoki blades I have, being the fastest, but I mostly use my Yinhe N11s exclusively these days). The Kiso 7 has some nice vibrations. All 7 plies are the same thickness, unlike the Darker and Nittaku blades.

I have a Darker Sakura Serio 7-ply hinoki. Although it's meant to replicate the feel of a 1-ply hinoki blade, I don't think it does. It's probably an unrealistic expectation for a blade with multiple plies to flex like a 1-ply with grain running in one direction, although the idea sounded good!

I only have limited experience of 1-ply blades (I have a heavy XVT ~8.5mm "hinoki"), but the Serio doesn't have the whip or the feel of the XVT. Instead it feels stiffer and more conventional. A little faster than my Donic WSC V1 but not as fast as the 1-ply. I do like how solid the Serio feels to hold, but yes, no "rainbow" effect for me. I might give it a bit more of a run, down the track.
