August 5, 2016 – Announcement of “custom-racket” service cancelled.

Butterfly has cancelled custom-racket (special made blade) service due to an increased quantity of custom rackets being requested for resale. The original purpose was to provide a custom crafted racket to an individual. The service was not intended for resale of the rackets. Butterfly apologizes deeply and regrets having to suspend the custom-racket service.

My whole set-up costs less than a sheet of Butterfly Dignics

understandable... they're people ordering a bunch and selling them at exorbitant prices... i was shown pictures and prices before... viscaria and zjk butterfly customs... not cool...

some people abuse the system and ruin it for the others...

Here is an example. I bought one for $257. I turned out I was not real happy with the blade (the handle came quite differently from what I had expected). So I sold it to some guy in London for pretty much what I paid for it. He immediately put it for sale on EBay. For 600 Euros!!!!!!!!!!!

Only a real a$$ ^^^^ does that.

Wow! that's such a dick move though. Taking opportunity where he can get, so low.

Something does not add up with the reason they give. Why would they care whether they're sold to individuals or sold for resale? It's a sale for them either way.
If it's not profitable for them (a more likely reason), why not up the price till it's profitable, which seems more their style. I'm certainly NOT encouraging for Butterfly to increase prices on anything , just pointing out that their reasons don't make sense to me.

Its more likely that they want to reduce a section of their production and need an excuse to justify their decision.

Yes, and some of the Chinese manufacturers even make Butterfly custom blades.
