Hello everyone..i want to change my blade which is Donic Epox Carbotec...i want to use either an all wood blade or an ALC blade. My style is primarily looping, counter looping, smashing, some blocking also and a couple of chops now and then. What do you advise me?

All wood will feel more flexible, better touch at the net and offer more spin depending on the thickness you choose. ALC is better for blocking and will feel very little flex or vibration. Both are good for spin play, though in general a 5 ply all wood will be able to generate more rotation with the same stroke.

Strange - people do say the Viscaria and other Arylate-Carbon blades are designed for looping...

The ALC blades are good for looping, I agree there 100%. However the 5ply all wood blades will be slower and have more control, with some exceptions like the BTY Mazunov, which is still quite fast and hard for a 5ply all wood blade.

If you are coming off a carbon for an all wood, I'd suggest a 7ply all wood like the Stiga Clipper or Donic Persson Powerplay. They should be a nice step back for you. This is of course for a mainly offensive game.

It will have some of the rigid qualities that the carbon has being a 7play blade while also having the slight drop in speed and improved control that the all wood blade can provide.

Any 5 ply woods you'd recommend on top of your head (for my personal future ej-ism reference)

some classics...

BTY Korbel
Donic Applegren allplay
Stiga Allround classic
Stiga offensive classic
Yasaka Ma Lin Extra offensive

they should be fine, they are the ones Ive used previously before moving to 7ply and then to ALC blades.

The DHS Fang Bo 7 ply all wood blade is a really good one if you like the pure wood feel. It also has an ALC version I think. Otherwise, since you have been using Donic, why not stick with it and try the new Donic Zhou Yu series? My friend has the Donic Zhou Yu 2 and it is a thing of beauty with 5 ply all wood.

Duly noted. 5 plies always eludes my way, maybe cause I started my serious blade at the 7 plies and never looked back. But yeo was in my radar a year back.

I'd take Allplay off the list, as it's going to be way too slow coming from a carbon. It'll be five steps slower rather than the one or two steps he probably wants.
