This was the topic I started back in the 2014 about this blade.
I never had full description from Achim, it was coded, and I remember sending you a question if you had tested this blade on your personal e- mail then.
:)

Yours looks like it is Something(very thin)-Cork-Balsa-Cork-Balsa-Cork-Balsa-Cork-Something(very thin). The Balsa plies all seem about as thick as the Cork plies, 1.5-2.0 mm. Completely different from mine! Should play quite differently as well, having those Cork plies right beneath the outer plies.

Not brilliant, I had to do it with my cellphone cam... But as you can see it is 7 ply.

Hmm...I'm not sure.
Maybe its in the outer mahogany veneers ? I think these are very tiny, not more than sheet of paper thick.
I was wondering what kind of tools Achim is using, and how can one cut wood with such a precision , but than, he is a German, so...! :D

Our pictures were sent in the same time, I suppose.
From the pictures, these blades are not the same!?

It's different. In mine the core ply is twice as thick as in yours and there are no Cork plies beneath the outer plies in mine.

If you want the same one I tested, be very sure you give Achim specs of the plies I described.

"The blade is 12 mm thick. The layout is different from any other Re-Impact that I know: there is a 4 mm Balsa core with 1.5 mm Cork plies at either side, 2 mm Balsa plies on either side of those, and 0.5 mm Mahogany outer plies."

This one right?

Wonder how it would play with H3 and medium pips 1mm and/or 1.5mm 8-)

Just to explain the difference between my blade and RadeB's - I think that Achim, as he is wont to do, has taken two years to perfect a concept of a blade that was pretty good to begin with. Now that the logo is there (see my picture), he must think that the concept has been perfected. From my own point of view, he is quite right. It is something, though, working two years or more to get a blade that you think is what it should be. How many manufacturers would do that? Maybe just him.

@ Rokphish: I'm not 100% certain the outer plies are Mahogany; to me, they look like it, but they could be something different. Perhaps it would be best to just ask Achim for the model of the Preference which he made for me.

As for using DHS Hurricane 3 on your FH, you would have to get the softest sponge available with this rubber (I think that is the nr. 19, orange sponge) and 2.0 mm would be the upper limit for its thickness, while 1.8 mm might do as well, but it would be less fast and less spinny.
The medium pips would have to be 1.5 mm thick, minimum, better 1.8 mm, or the rubber would bottom out - some players like that, though. Friendship 799 (not the Mystery version) plays well on this kind of blade, in my experience. But if you like DHS, their 651 is great as well, just a bit heavier.
