Hey everybody so I've been doing a lot of research and probably overthinking this a bit like I'm sure we all do but what's the best 7 ply blade for a one wing looper that likes to play medium to long distance and fast with power when needed with a defensive backhand and solid all around defense and control? So in summary I guess I'd consider myself an all around+ type player??I know what some of you may be thinking be I just feel like I've outgrown 5 ply blades and thinking low to mid 80s in terms of weight but all wood (and what type? Walnut?), carbon, or something along the lines of carbon aralyte?

low 80's is a bit rare for an all wood 7ply.

So why do you think you've outgrown 5ply blades? There are some pretty fast ones out there...

The rosewood VII seems like a legit paddle but seems awfully stiff and fast for loopers doesn't it? Unless you're a fast and mid to short looper I suppose. Typically I'm a long distance looper with alot of dwell time, spin and movement.

I definitely agree there are some fast 5 plies out there I'm just in the middle of a real toss up.

Rosewood 7 was pretty heavy from memory. I think the 5 was at least a 90g blade already. I really liked the 5 as an attacking blade.

I think in one of your previous threads you were looking at the OSP expert? I haven't seen one, but I did have a virtuoso (which OSP rate pretty similarly) and it was a lot slower than a rosewood 5.

a persson powerplay can be found in the mid 80s, but it was sort of slow for a 7ply off.

Heavy or not, it does seem to be popular among top Chinese players.

Probably plays better because it's heavy.

OP: I read in another thread that you're using a carbo 7 premade (had to look it up)

Have you looked into what rubbers you're going to use yet? The stuff on that premade looks slow.

Dang you guys are all over this forum lol and yeah I forgot that was a whole forum for blade discussion but I've been looking at the rakza 7 rubbers. Also, I came across the butterfly IF ZLC and the Zhang Jike Super ZLC which seem pretty intense and seem to be perfect for my play style although maybe not my skill level just yet lol. Also, it's driving me crazy the super ZLC says it's 5 ply + 2szlc which stands for what? +2 ply something something limba carbon??

if you're looking at rakza rubbers, i'd stick to a 5ply for now.

Blade: Palio WAY-003
FH: Yinhe Mars II medium
BH: Yinhe 955
Rakza7, SZLC blade and coming from Carbo7?!

I just had 2 new guys at the club, one with a premade Dunlop Evolution 3000 and another one with a Butterfly C-Pen and Rakza-rubbers on it (I didn't look closely but it is the expensive stuff).
First guy did not give much spin on the ball but had very good reactions and was nearly immune against spin. He enjoyed playing against stronger players and was able to retrieve even good topspin balls coming on him.
The other one had trouble just to get the ball on the table, they flew off most of the time so he tried to just touch the ball very softly. He did give spin on the balls and reacted well first but he wasn't able to read or understand spin returning back to him.
Or, to make a long story short: The more advanced material did turn out to be a huge disadvantage.

So, going for a pre-assembled racket based on W6, M8, N11 or whatever with 729, Corbor, BLutenkirsche coming at a total less than a single Rakza-rubber will definitely be the better choice.

And before buying one of these expensive SZLC-blades I'd go with Yinhe T8s anyway. But since I am a one-winged killer using a spikey shield on the backhand I'm fine with the Palio TCT.

Joola Viva.

http://www.joolausa.com/Professional/Fast/Viva-Blade

The specs say 90 grams, but we use a lot of these and I would say they are averaging around 84 grams.

I suppose if you do want to find out what 7 ply blades are like try a HRT Clipper first:

Or you could try the Yinhe 06B:

Mine only weighs 173 grams with two sheets of 9000. That's almost exactly what my N11-based combos weigh.

I think if you want something thats been tried, tested and proven and is popular in japan, thats good quality and value for money then at approx. $65 i don't think I'd go past a TSP Swat..
