Put a grain of salt on these reviews, as usual.

Google reveals a few individual tests which are quite mixed (solid blade, off-, edgy handle). As far as I remember, Cornilleau itself doesn't produce the blades so there's the possibility to find a cheaper spinoff with nearly identical properties.

Do you have issues with your current setup?

Naah, he's going through the online vendors. Something catches his eye, he wants to know if anyone's tried it, so he asks for opinions here. Before long there's 30 separate threads asking about 30 different blades...

Yes and No.
Yes I am going through online vendors, Yes I wish opinions from those who have tried them.
No, I won't be going thro 30 separate threads. I have been quite selective in posting questions in the forum. In fact I have reviewed more than 20 blades, such as Galaxy W5, N9, N11, T4, Andro Super Core Carbon, Palio TCT, XVT Shark and some expensive ones like Viscaria, Hurricane 3, Butterfly Liu Shi Wen. So I only request for review opinions when I could not find them.

As you can see, my requirements have not changed. I am looking for a light weight blade with good control and looping abilities, speed OFF. All the above mentioned blades have these values. My current equipment is only a ALL set up.
Unfortunately I am not in a position to try 5 to 6 blades.

And believe or not, I wish to encourage forum discussions, the more the merrier. This is one way we, the players, can help ourselves and have some fun along the way too.

I wouldn't recommend the TCT unless you know what you're doing or willing to make work of yourself, same with Galaxy T10/T11(+) and a big bunch of other outstanding blades that aren't universally useful for everyones need. If it has to be special but less difficult, Palio TS1 or S8, Galaxy T8s, DHS TG7P, Sanwei HC6 etc.etc. seem to be worth a closer look.

Best bang for the buck to improve is still specialised training and usually it doesn't need to be a pro-trainer.

Yeah. I have decided against the TCT.
I actually played with the TCT with Mark V both sides on Wednesday and I alternated play with my W6 set up, just for direct comparison. The TCT blocks well and excellent close to table play. I can also loop from mid-distance. The W6 too.
The feel is different from both set ups and definitely more control and comfortable with my current W6 set up.
Surprise was my opponent felt that the W6 set up has more speed and spin.

Sorry, I mistook you for TheAdvancedStudent. Four threads in rapid succession plus more elsewhere about more or less the same thing.

No problem at all, Iskandar. I know you are one who has contributed the most to this forum.
I actually can see your point of view. Frivolous talk/threads can actually be detrimental to a forum such as these. On the other hand, light hearted banter can add fun to serious issues too. Lets keep a proper balance.
Although this forum has more than 10,000 members, most couldn't find the time to participate more.

I don't think TheAdvancedStudent was being frivolous, but he was going about it the wrong way. Better to just start one thread and keep the discussion in one place. Or better yet, just join one of the many other newbie threads already in existence.

I wasn't referring to him at all, just in general forum behaviours which will generate participation.
And it would help if only there is a better search function to seek existing threads. But there isn't.
Wonder if that can be improved.
A database like tabletennisdb's equipment database would also do very nice especially if it is constantly being up-dated.

There is a 'search' button that gets you to google-backed search of OOAK content - in what way it was/is insufficient? Real problem is that there are no reviews of some rather obscure blades and rubbers (like CORNILLEAU Aero you are interested in), but that's just the reality. Perhaps lack of info might be a sufficient hint in itself to avoid this particular piece of equipment?

Thanks for pointing out the google search function. My mistake was I didn't realise that the searches are based per forum resulting in lots of "no suitable matches were found"

Regards "obscure blades and rubbers"
Should we ignore them and let them remain small and irrelevant? OR
Should we support a selected few and let them provide serious competition to the established companies.
I wonder how true is the 80-20 rule when applied to TT equipment?

I think the best thing to do in the case of obscure stuff is to buy it, try it and review it.. I tend to do that myself but at the lower end of the price scale and my reviews tend to be useless..

Yes. The proof is in the eating.
However after trying them out we must provide good review reports.
I suppose many will just throw away their 'bad' investment without second thought and reporting a review.
Hence I don't think any reviews would be 'useless'

Oops. Good review reports does not mean giving good grades of the equipment under review but a good report, whether the equipment is good or bad
