I'd be interested in the thoughts of all those who have used any of the donic blades with Senso handles (ie those with hollow spaces).

My instinct suggests that the bat becomes head heavy as a result but I'd love to hear from those who have actually had practical playing experience with them. How did it feel moving from a solid handle? Weird? Little difference? Did you stick with it or go back to solid handle? etc etc

Yes head heavy(even with ox pips on one side) and you can feel vibrations,some people like this personally I prefer the balance more towards the handle where the blade will feel lighter than a senso blade of the same weight

I've got the Appelgren senso V1. It's not head heavy but it does feel slightly heavier than my Yasaka Extra which is 4 grams heavier. Mine is the AN handle which feels good. I really don't notice it's hollow apart from the gap at the bottom.

I use it alternatively (depending on opponent) with Dr. N. Titan/Re-Impact Tachi. The Titan obviously is notably lighter than the Defplay Senso. However, apart from the hard feel of the Defplay, there is absolutely little effect to the hollow handle. Yes, it feels very slightly head heavy but in the stroke production there is nothing worth noting. My style is close to table attacking so I can't vouchsafe for mid- long distance chopping but I doubt that the hollow handle would be a consideration...particularly since the Defplay Senso is a classic defender's blade used worldwide.

I bought a Donic Ovtcharov Senso V1 several years ago and I couldn't play with it. Balance was all wrong. That said a number in the club use one of the older generation Donic carbon blades with a senso handle and they swear by them. They tried several of the newer generation blades but ended up going back to their 'tried and trusted'. Remember one guy in particular using the Xiom Vega Europe and another the Xiom Vega Pro but both of them found them too fast.

Also some of the newer blades now seem to have slightly bigger faces which means more rubber weight so a meatier handle balances the weight. I would probably steer clear of senso handles. If you have to have a lighter setup opt for lighter rubbers possibly using a slightly thinner sponge.

Many blades have hollow handles, but with the senso blades it is just more obvious. I'm happy with my blade - a WSC JO shape, which I have used for 2-3 years now - and I'm not planning to change anytime soon. Balance works for me, and I really like the shape and size of the handle.

i have the donic defplay senso and have cut the head size down.i really like it for blocking with antispin and it chops well.i like the narrow handle.it plays very similar to the grubba pro
