What's the go with titanium blades. I have no experience and know nothing about them really. Don't think I've ever seen anyone using one. Maybe there's good reason for that???? Cheers.

First saw them around 2000 - Tibhar first came out with them. No idea if they're any different or better than the plethora of other blades out there, though you wouldn't know it by the advertising. One thing's for sure - they're expensive! I think it's just another example of blade manufacturers using anything and everything available to come up with yet another type of blade, which the equipment junkies will buy. Though I must admit, I haven't seen any boron fiber blades yet (probably too inconvenient/too dangerous to work with - the thought of what will result when they cut out those blades with the CNC routers gives me the creeps..).

Why not buy one and let us know what you think?

I would imagine that the feel would be different from that of a typical tt blade...

Only one way to find out.. I'll have to note that there's an astonishing lack of talk about them on forums, which leads me to think they're nothing special. Otherwise they'd have their core of aficionados who'd be posting about them.

Blade: Palio WAY-003
FH: Yinhe Mars II medium
BH: Yinhe 955
I am using the Palio TCT and I like it very much. It's quite noisy, stiff and very hard - I don't know if it is fast enough to qualify but shots with this blade are more devastating than with any other blade I own or have owned. It is quite picky on rubbers and I like the softer rubbers the most with this blade.

Interesting.

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Palio-T ... 11267.html

Cheap, too. Anyone who wants one should be able to afford one and not think twice.

Looks a mite heavy for me, though.. 90 grams.. And the butt shot shows that famous Palio build quality. Then again, think of the devastating shots.

I wonder what this "titanium" actually IS, and whether it's the same as the one they use in the expensive Tibhar blades.

I have one of these. Only ever tried it a couple of times, just feels and sounds weird. Nothing wrong build wise, and I suspect that it may go well with different rubber. And very cheap. Looks like a titanium foil: like an aluminium foil, but titanium. Carbon face.

Played with a Stiga Titanium WRB long time ago, one of the fastest at the time. Good blade. Is this what you all like to know?

From what I remember of the Tibhar advertising materials, their titanium wasn't a foil - it was some sort of composite material. The matrix was metal, rather than a polymer.

Decided to have a look around. Aside from the Palio, I've found other blades that use titanium:

1) Stiga Titanium 5.4 - Paddle Palace seems to think the titanium is titanium powder (which wouldn't make sense at all), while Stiga's web site and tabletennis11 say they're ultra-thin "layers" (foil?). The blade on Stiga's web site has the butt end sticker waaaay off center... Claims the titanium reduces weight - 82 grams on Paddle Palace, 84 on TT11. Has "unique bonding glue". Everyone does agree there are four layers, though.

2) Juic Titanium Turbo. This uses a "titanium mesh". This is actually what the old Schildkrot (not Tibhar) blade had, as I now recall. Quite heavy (87 grams).

3) Donic Crisan Titanium. This one also uses the "titanium mesh". There's a VERY FUNNY review here:

https://www.megaspin.net/store/default. ... n-titanium

which seems to be written by someone who obviously loves playing fighter plane video games: "Chinese Penholder Grip players have a very large repertoire of spins (83 and still counting), "skeeting", and "Aeroelastic Braking" which cannot be countered except with another three-dimensional spin (three dimensional spins are possible only with the Chinese Penholder grip and with a wrist rotation of 270 to 310 degree movement- very risky for Shakehand Grip players.) This product is an expense must have for the player with aerodynamic understanding and fighter pilot skills to manipulate the ball (yaw, pitch, row, and wobbly goblin) into a vibrating guided trajectory. With a Penholder Grip the player is able to return a Super Heavy Top Spin ball with a "Low Speed Yo-Yo", "High Speed Yo-Yo", "Sissors", "Luftberry Circle", or an "Inverse Immelmann" that seemingly leaves the table and then "Sidewinder" back to the opponent's side of table's white lines. This is what makes the Corkscrew Spins rarely seen and untouchable."

Note he's misspelled "Scissors" and "Lufbery Circle".

All these blades are expensive (USD75+), and everyone agrees they're fast.

I did try it a long time ago too. It was a good performer, several people that try it concurred.

Well, I think it's the wood that the Titanium wrb used that made it good, not the titanium. It's hard and thick but with so much feeling and control.

Well, you'll never know.
Could be the titanium what makes it good.
Some time the synergy works better than just the parts by themselves.

Bought one of these blades cheap the other day, as my local TT shop had one at the bottom of a cupboard!

http://www.tabletennisdb.com/blade/xi-e ... r-560.html

Well made 7 ply blade with titanium weighed 85gm

Plays very nicely as an allround to offensive combo with slowish soft rubbers e.g. LKT Rapid soft 2mm and also Spinlord Keiler 1.8mm.

Looks like this one:

Quite inexpensive (under $22). Apparently has two carbon and one titanium layer (that center layer is my guess). Can't tell if that's laser engraving or simple silk screen printing. Tung wood core.

Here's another one (a little more expensive, under $32):

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-Sh ... 28308.html

Has two carbon, one titanium and two CERAMIC layers...

No butt shot, but:

So I guess there's three relatively inexpensive Chinese options if you really HAVE to have a "titanium blade".

Hi Everyone,

In the passed I have used Stiga Titanium WRB (not the slower 5:4 but the original)

It was very very fast, little control, heavy, very hard feel from the blade & it was also very head heavy however I think that was down to the fact the handle is hollow so there for light and I had tenergy & Bryce Speed on which would weigh the head down.

Admittedly the blade is amazing for powerful flat hits  it was good for me at the time I was using it although I will admit probably a bit too fast for the level I was then, but definitely not my game currently, I have gone the opposite to slower with high control.

If your looking for a powerful flat hitting blade it's great!! But there are now a lot more blades on the market that will offer the same hitting style with a lot more control, but non as fast  it's 2nd fastest blade I have ever tried, with Dr Neubauer High Technology Plus being number 1, for those of you who don't know that blade it's a massively thick balsa blade, adds insane place to any rubber you put on it.
