Hi,

I wonder if any players in the forum use the Nittaku Goriki Supercut blade. If so, it would be great to know your experience and rubber choices. Thank you. :)

I've never actually seen one. They're not cheap, and there a lot of other good defenders blades around, but I'd also like to hear what this blade is like.

Let me tell my own experience as the OP, in the hopes that others may chime in.

I have been using this blade for a few weeks now. It is not cheap, around $200. I have Dr. Neubauer Viper 1.0 mm red on the BH, and tried several rubbers on the FH. Currently using Xiom Yanus DF max. It is a thin blade (4.9 mm) but not slow, and it is solid in construction with beautiful 7 plies of walnut. I think the blade really enhances long pips. I have used use Joo blade before, and in my view the backspin you get is much higher than Joo, plus the balls stay much lower. It also offers more control for BH hits on the table. The feedback from the blade is just great. Blocking works well too. I would say great control for the BH. However, the FH flex makes it a bit tricky. Need to find a somewhat softer rubber to go with the flex. Hard rubbers I tried did not work well. Since there is blade flex, you do not need a very springy rubber, though. Yanus DF works well for FH chop and attacks. Attacks can use the blade flex to generate good power. For away from the table counters, it is not as powerful as Joo, but still works. I could generate very good counters with Tenergy 64 1.7 mm. Combined with the blade flex, it feels like Tenergy 1.9 mm. So, one needs to adjust the power on the hits a bit to take into account that extra kick coming from the blade's flex itself.

Overall, much more control, spin, and hitting capability on the BH with long pips compared to Joo. I think FH chops are also much easier. Forehand smashes and away-from-the table counters are better with Joo. Was it worth the investment? Because it makes playing with long pips so much more effective, it was. But if you really attack frequently, then rubber pairing on the FH seems important.

4.9mm is very thin! Yes the walnut would give it a nice crisp feel and good for the pimples.
I've tried the Yanus, and although I thought it was great for chopping and very insensitive to spin, it felt very bouncy for the short game, and much better for hitting than looping. Sponge is quite soft too at 35deg.
I would have thought a medium hardness tensor-type would work better and not bottom out so easily. Something like Tibhar EL-P or similar.
