Just replace the cork (They sell jpen cork replacement kits) and glue them on.

I have used wine corks, cut them to shape, would glue them to the existing handle and then sanded it down. It's really extremely easy (and fun) to do.

They also sell bulk cork at arts and crafts and hobby stores like Michaels or Hobby Lobby.

Otherwise, if you prefer to try to slow down the wear or preserve the existing cork, you can use blade sealer on it. But it changes the feel of it and it's not quite as breathable or comfy. I just bought a BTY Selebes and the guy sealed it...love the blade, but dislike the sealed cork. It's minor, but I actually plan to sand down the handle to remove the sealer.
