For blade performance the out plies are quite important, and it's quite disappointing to see high-end and expensive blade with pretty inconsistant outer ply thickness. Here is another I just came across, for a blade cost of almost AUD$200 is don't think it's acceptable.

As you can see, the outer ply is clearly inconsistant and different thickness on either side, in some places being twice as thick!

Looks quite consistent on each side, but one side is twice the thickness as the other side. How does it play, and where was it made?

Maybe it's due to design? A somewhat softer feel on the backhand, I guess?

If this is a two sided blade, yes.. otherwise... And you wonder if all of them are like that or if it is just this one example.

Some will slip through the quality control inspection.

And yes, unfortunate and maddening when found on high-end expensive blades. Especially if no return/exchange is possible.

But, normal and understandable as it happens to anything being made.
