I just bought a Yinhe Galaxy Y-2 blade ( i.e 5 ply + 2 Carbon) then glued on 2 Reactor Corbor rubbers . Yesterday, I took it out for a test run and found out some puzzling issues with this blade ( weight 86 gr. ; and 180 gr. with rubbers ) . The sound made when hitting the ball was entirely different from my previous paddles . It sounded hollow , not solid as I was used to .
How would you explain this ? The blade itself is not thin at all ( thickness = 6. mm or about 1/4 inch.)

Carbon is under just one very thin wood veneer. This makes the blade really loud.

I asked the same question here a few years ago, after buying my first carbon blades. ;)

I wonder if your observation is valid for all carbon blades ? As for the Yinhe Galaxy brand, I also bought another Carbon blade , the series Galaxy T11+ , and found no hollow sound issue . As I used a different brand of rubbers with this blade ( i.e. Kokutaku Blutenkirsche 868) , I could not conclusively attribute the issue to "the blade" alone. Could it be a combined effects of both "blade" and "rubbers" ? Please comments .

Is T11+ carbon? I've used T11 which was balsa but I don't think carbon in it. Perhaps that's what the + is.

I have a T11+ and I find that it sounds quite a bit different to most other blades, which is probably caused by the balsa wood.

AFAIK
T-11+: 7-ply (5+2). Balsa core with carbon on both sides, and two wooden outer plies (both limba wood, I believe).
T-11 (no plus): 5-ply (3+2). Balsa core with carbon on both sides, single outer ply of limba.

Do you think the t11+ would pair well with short pips?

No, hollow. Faster and harder than your firewall but still hollow.

Ok thanks
Think I’ll go for Samsonov force pro or force pro black edition as not to expensive

Corbor is a very standard Chinese rubber, so I don't think the sound is attributable to it.

You can sometimes pick up Corbor for about $3.50 a sheet including shipping.
