Guys, because I know you are the most insane equipment junkies on the face of the planet, I figured you all would know where I could get a shake hand Arylate-only blade.... no carbon. My Selebes jpen Is such a blade and I absolutely love the feel. I know that some of the “ alpha ” butterfly blades were of this type. Are there any others in existence that you guys know of?

Interesting. What does acrylate does to the blade? More hardness? More flex?

Passionate about TT

Arylate (not acrylate) is essentially more flexible and not as brittle as carbon, but with comparable tensile strength. It makes for a vibration damping and slightly softer playing blade compared to a similar construction carbon blade.

Correct. And my selebes (Jpen blade) has an amazing feel. It has soft outers...I imagine that it is willow or something like that even though someone told me it is hinoki. Not sure, but it's not uber fast. And it's still nice and solid feeling without being overly hard or stiff. Huge sweetspot. It's a Jpen, but when I chop with it...it just feels perfect. I was half tempted to put a SH handle on it and turn it into a chopping blade, but the selebes is too beautiful for that. Plus, I still play Jpen for fun every now and then.

Historically such blades included the Keyshot and the Timo Boll Spark, all long since discontinued. Not sure if any Arylate only blades are still made but you can still occasionally find used ones for sale at various places.

I've definitely come across a few arylate blade without carbon, but the only one that comes to mind is the Yin-he DE-1.

Aside from looking for older discontinued Butterfly arylate only, perhaps the ZLF blades would be close alternatives.
