Has anyone tried to replicate this using some UV light?

I happen to have a UV lamp for sterilizing rooms, I was thinking...perhaps I should try it!

Any ideas regarding the matter is appreciated. :)

Now that's a novel idea!

Perhaps you'll find that UV light does not actually work at all, and it's just a paint named "UV"

I''d like to know how much power output the UV lamp would need...

I work with printers and they have a similar technology where they apply an Over Print Varnish over the print job to make it look glossy and protect it and then it is cured/cross-linked under UV light which acts as a catalyst.

I think Stiga must be doing the same, applying a varnish over the finished blade and then UV curing it. It is similar to applying wood varnish except that it cures with air oxidation. The UV cure gives it that extra crispy feeling. I have a bunch of that sitting at work. Will try it on one of my pre-made blades to see how it goes. I guess I'll use the bounce test to determine the increase in speed/hardness

LED UV lighing source is a great novelty. No mercurial tubes in use, no enviromental hazard.
This one is going to harden the rubber topsheet as soon as over 48 hour at full UV output 48 W,

Be happy

Interesting device, but we're talking about treating blades here, not rubbers. ;)

I suppose one first have to determine what CR treatment IS and what it DOES before one can replicate it. If you want to expose wood to intense UV light all you really need to do is put it out in the noon sun in Summer for a few days. Just flip it every few hours - I don't think a puny little fluorescent bulb meant to cure fingernail varnish would even compare.

Unless it's got a "mercurial tube", of course. Would a "mercurial" tube be somewhat, uh, hot and unstable?

I don't know, but it may be as heavy as lead.
