Post subject:  Looking to purchase an Off- blade

Folks,
just recently joined this forum, getting back into the game after 20+ years absence.
I actually got a coach to spend an hour a week with me starting last week.
It appears that I didn't forget EVERTYTHING about the game. :) He is now advising me instead of buying an All / All+ blade that I should be looking at getting a good Off- blade instead.
Right now I'm thinking of Tibhar Stratus Power Wood, but also peeking at the Nittaku Septear Lead / Latika, and also Donic Waldner Dicon. Any thoughts on which one I should get? Or is there another blade I should add to my finalist list?

Tibhar Stratus Power Wood is more like Off than off- IMO. From Tibhar you could consider the Samsonov Alpha. Every brand would have something good in that speed range.

This is nearly exactly what I was going to reply. In the Tibhar range, Stratus Powerwood is at least top end of OFF- whereas Samsonov Alpha is more traditional OFF- along with Tibhar Lebesson.

People have mentioned that Yasaka Sweden Extra is OFF-. I've got it's predecessor Yasaka Extra which is the same I believe and I'd say it's only All+.

I'm currently using Gewo Alvaro Robles which although I'm growing to like it, I don't think it's worth the higher cost compared to the others.

In general I'd agree that Off- is still suitable for a beginner.

Other options
Avalox BT555
Donic Waldner Dixon
DHS PG7

For something cheaper perhaps the Yinhe 896.
