Has anyone played with any of the custom made blades call nuts wood. They are exclusively made for custom table tennis in the uk. The video on the web site is very good and the quality looks outstanding. I’ve had several Randall blades which I’ve not been particularly impressed with in regards to playing characteristic or the quality of the finish but these Nut Wood blades look something else. With various types of quality wood handles etc. I would love to know how they actually play as I’m seriously tempted.

I was at Mr Customs last week and he'd just put the rubbers on one of these wood nut blades as a replacement for a knackered Def 2 for one of the top defenders in the area,it felt very well balanced in the hand and the quality is high, speak to the owner (Steve)he's knowledgeable.

Steve uses the def version himself with SP on FH and ox LP on the BH so should be able to give useful advice on at least that version.

Just received the combination blade. Absolutely superb. The quality of the finish of this blade is remarkable. The best looking blade I’ve ever seen. If it plays anything like the look then I’ve found the holy grail.

If you go to the site Www.customtabletennis.co.uk and look at the video section you will see in detail how good these blades are.

Ah.. BIG explanation needed here...

http://www.customtabletennis.co.uk/WOOD-NUT-Blades/

It's not Nut Wood.. It's "Wood Nut" - the name of a company, not a type of wood!! In fact they use all sorts of wood. A "Wood Nut" would, I suppose, be a wood fanatic or wood enthusiast.

This one uses Cherry (very nice figured cherry, too).

http://www.customtabletennis.co.uk/Wood ... nsive.html

This one has Mahogany on it's faces. Apparently you can choose handle shape, face size, etc., and I think you have a choice of core wood (obeche or balsa).

Aha... Never came across Rupert before..

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rupert_Bear

Nutwood, apparently (a village).

Come to think of it.. there seem to be a LOT of cuddly bears in British kids' literature. Paddington, Winnie (apparently now illegal in China  ), now Rupert...

Now had a chance to play with a wood nut blade. I’ve got the combination blade. Absolutely amazing. The control is superb. Best looking blade I’ve used and so comfortable in the hand I cannot fault it’s playing characteristics.

A few weeks on and the defender mentioned above liked the blade enough to buy another.
The blades are made by a local cabinet maker using finest quality selected plies,he looked at some of the other blades from the big manufacturers and was critical of the quality of the woods ,the balsa in particular .
There will be a review from the defender on the new website when it arrives

They can taylor make a blade to suit an individuals style of play. I endsorse dazzlers comment above. The balsa is aviation quality and one piece not like many other manufacturers which are different low grade balsas glued together.
