Many years ago, I got as a gift a JPen blade, Butterfly Tamca 5000. It is still new in the box. It says "tectonic" on the handle and "carbon laminated" on the box.
After over 20 years, I am taking this blade out of the box and give it a try. (I usually play close to the table, CPen.)
How does this blade play? What rubber would be a good choice for this blade? Should I seal and protect the wood before gluing a rubber on?
Thanks for your help!

You are the one with blade in hand haha. Play and let us know.

Sealing is up to personal taste. If you are worried about splintering, use speed glued on the blade and wbg on the sponge.

As for how it plays, this is a very obscure blade. I doubt you will find 1- very many people who play jpen, and 2- very many who have played with that very specific blade. Most Jpen players prefer single ply hinoki as you know.

I have played shakehand blades with Tamca 5000, and like the feel for attacking. Very fast. And I have played single ply hinoki jpen and arylate jpens, also very fast. But never Tamca 5000 jpens.

Pure speculation, but I imagine it's much faster than your Cpen, which will tend to make you want to step back from the table unless you are mostly a blocker.
How many plies is it?

It's a 3W + 2C, like this Gergely carbon blade, even the box is similar. Just found this:
