Yes, I did.
The way I found them, I was working on a nuke fusion project. We took ONE micro balloon, put in a vacuum chamber for two days. The air would leave right through the glass. Then in a pressure chamber with hydrogen gas to "refill" the balloon.
This became our target for our laser. We put 3 X 10 to the 30th power watts / Sq centimeter on target. Temp went to 6,000,000 degrees and you get a mini hydrogen bomb. The laser beam was broken into four beams and the target was hit from four sides compressing it to raise the temp.
This is a project for a new energy source in the future. It is now using 28 beams and more power. We could have lit New York City for a VERY short time. :D

Yes I can certainly see how this reminded you of using it on a table tennis bat

You go to a model airplane store, find a product called "Micro-balloons". They are 20/1000 diameter hollow glass sphears. A one quart container of them feels empty they are so light.
You mix some epoxy and keep adding micros untill it will not accept any more, About 95% micro-balloons and 5% epoxy. It makes a very thick paste. Put it on the handle, let the epoxy harden and file/sand the handle to the shape you want. It files/sands real nice and will take paint, dye, varnish. It sands smooth and is stronger than wood. It hardly weighs anything. :D

I don't have any of those model airplane stores handy locally -- hopefully I'll find one somewhere down the road...

Thanks hookshot -- I do seem to recall you recommending those glass balloons a few months ago. :)

Yeah Foss made his special "glove-shaped" handle with them. :D

Hi Haggisv,
Actually, it was the light weight that made me think of a "filler" material. :D

I have two R*1 blades, one flare and the other straight, I love them both, doesn't bother me at all. Now that you guys have talk about it, may be I'll start to pay some attention to see if there is any difference.

Careful Tat, you might find you don't like one when you start to focus on it! It'd be a shame if I had to take one off your hands just so it didn't affect your game any

But of course as a friend, I would do it for you! I wouldn't do it for just anyone of course. :D

No, I have been playing them every other day, and I 've been doing twiddling, no difference.
Don't even think about it.

Tat, look into my eyes. You are getting sleepy. Sleepier.Asleep!

Now I am going to make a suggestion and when you wake up you will follow it without question. Send the flared handled R*1 to Reb because you only like ST handles now. When I say "Wake Up!" you will awaken and remember only my suggestion.

Wake Up!

OK Tat, I won't think about it. *whistles*.

BTW, REBorn, why do you specify the flared handle and not the straight one? Any special reasons?

Sorry guys, I am trying to catch up on the number of post, I know I will never beat ReBorn, but don't hurt trying.

It`s a matter og feel.
Most european players and especially top players use Straight because it is easier to switch from fh to BH..

I plat straight also Flared hurts my grip

wow. that is quite hard core customization. well im not in any position to say anything because i have only used FL handles and i have no idea what ST handles have to offer.

But, when i was using a FL handle, i used medical tape (yes, Medical tape. the orange tape that is like cloth) to wrap my handle to make it bigger and to make it heavier and thicker on the handle because i did want to see what taping my handle will offer me. it did give me stability and as REBorn emphasizes, shock absorption.

Because the FL handle is quite slim at the top, when you tape it, it does become like a ST handle. I don't know why, but i didin't see any difference in twiddling between my FL and ST handle.

but if your hand is small and it fits well with the slim top of the handle but when you tape your handle its too big for you, then you should follow what all these guys say and sand it down. but do read all of their posts and if you do not understand anything. PM them.

I've sanded my Butterfly PC handle. it now feels almost like a straight handle but still looks like a flared handle. I may just have to adjust a little to the handle because now my wrist has more freedom of movement. thanks to this forum. :D
