I am interested in what people who chop and attack with FH use for inverted. I have been playing "modern defender" for a while and have probably been over emphasizing the FH attack portion. I am interested in what rubbers others have found useful to both chop maybe 60% of loops to my FH while still being able to counter loop and attack the other 40%. I would prefer non-butterfly-I tried tackifire drive and did not like it. I suspect tenergy 64 may be a good option, but would prefer something cheaper.

Recently have tried H3 neo max (did not like at all) skyline 3 neo max (pretty good-but DHS quality is all over the place). Will work more with palio blitz and hope to try thor. (Need to work on FH technique). TIA.

Trial-FH- dhs skyline 3 neo (max), H3 neo max, outlaw max, looking for something that can chop well, but also loop, attack well off the table
BH-a number of black LP with about 1.0 sponge-sanwei code, palio 563, other chinese LP. Not sure why I bother, cause nothing can beat TSP P1 r.

A friend of mine uses 729 on a Matshishita Pro blade and Yasaka Phantom on the backhand. But he also twiddles a lot.

If you want to chop it really helps to get something thinner than 2.0mm. I find Tensors are often used in 1.5-1.8mm range. They tend to hit ans blaock really well, bu if you want to power-loop you'd need a fairly firm sponge or it will bottom out.

I must admit what I want is probably not possible. I strongly prefer max sponge. I have never liked any thin sponge inverted so far.

Well the professions probably use max sponge for chopping too... just means you have to train more as they're harder to control.

Xiom Yanus df chops well and loops. I use 1.5 sponge on all+ blade.

I used non-speed glued DHS G666 for a while on the forehand. May seem strange but its 2.2mm sponge seemed to be able to cushion the ball on chops instead of just
rocketing it back, giving it a sort of unexpected control and it looped well enough also.

Tackiness C/D and Vari Spin are very good for this propose. Very good control for chopping and still able to attack well enough. The Vari Spin is a very commonly used rubber for the chopper who also attacks in my region.

If you like Max sponge I would try Grip-S. I find it *extremely* easy to fh chop with. In fact nothing I have tried has worked better!

So how is it in looping or attacking?
Just looked it up. Wow, might as well try Tenergy!

Save yourself some coin. Just buy a sheet of Haifu BWII. I made the mistake of buying Grip-S only to find that it is just In My Opinion rebranded Blue Whale II .
It plays no different than BWII .
Plus with Blue Whale you can choose your sponge hardness. (Note that neither BWII nor Grip-S come in anything but max thickness)

what about 2.2mm DHS PF4?

I've used that on a All blade in practice (to give a team mate practice against chopping).

or would the brick hard sponge make looping too difficult?

yes expensive and..enjoying so much the tenergy 64s both 1.9 and 2.1 mm on diode and joo se hyuk blades, chopping , spinning
and driving,hitting...need to make an emphasis: requirement of footwork...
also heard and saw 1.9 mm T64s on matsushita pro and nittaku haneyoshi blades with 1.1mm FL3s on their othersides..

I don't play an out and out chopping game. My game is mostlky setting up third ball kills or I play the short pushing game and wait for an opening. But if I am hitting and counter hitting with an opponent who has moved away from the table then I do throw in the sudden chop just to break his rhythm. and I do this with my inverted. Which in my case is either IQUL in max or 729 FX also in max. I have managed to get a fair amount of points that way because I can put some good undespin on them, they seem much more harmless than they are.

I am not very good at chopping with FH but I practice it from time to time and sometimes i twiddle and chop with inverted on BH. I use Andro Hexer 2,1 and I think it is a very good rubber even for chopping. If you time it rigt, the sponge feels kind of dead and slow and you can put a lot of spin. But if the "click-effect" of the sponge comes into play your chop will knock your opponent out (you will hit his face :D ). When chopping with Hexer on my BH I can use almost the same movement as with my LP. I hav ealso tried a lot of other rubbers (Friendship SST Cross, H3, H3#19, LKT Pro XT, LKT Rapid Sound, etc) but I found Hexer being easier than all of those at chopping (but not necessary better, just more controllable) with one exception - SST Cross. But that rubber was a little too slow (I have it in 1,8 mm). Maybe a Hexer 1,7 would be good for you?
