Bought a black sheet off a friend, had approx used it for 5 hours,so was happy to pay only 20 dollars for it.

My impressions after few hours use.

Sponge is quite hard and heavy.

Speed is excellent but not super fast.

Grips the ball excellent on some shots without producing great spin.

Trajectory is flat to very flat despite the decent grip.

Great rubber for slapping a forehand drive with.

Struggled to loop on the forehand with it especially when I closed the bat face.

Returned serve great, particularly insensitive to spin.

Tried it for a few minutes on the backhand lifting the ball steeply and the ball did not slip.

Overall,going to continue using it.

Played better the second hour with it when I realised I had to keep the blade angle open on the forehand.

Although that statement seems counter-intuitive, I've come across these type of mystery rubber myself as well, so I know what you mean

Also take into account that the sheet is used. Xplode is one of the top sellers for JOOLA. It's still used by professional players in Europe. It is the only JOOLA rubber that I know of that is not Chinese that plays like a chinese rubber. In my opinion the rubber plays best on the FH and has a medium throw. It's got great spin and also produces flat balls when flipping. As far as the backhand goes I would prefer the softer version Xplode Sensitive which has a higher throw and a touch more spin, but loses some of its speed.

All in all I agree with you for the most part, except for the few things that change when a sheet has been used for a while.
