Do you find hitting higher balls is much easier with H3 vs Jap rubbers,especially smashing.
i.e. Do they go where you want them to go better than softer Jap rubbers

If you watch the maze training video, you'll notice that Hao Shuai twiddles around to his backhand side (japanese rubber?) after the first smash. I guess this could just indicate that it's faster/better for smashing though.

Hard sponges are very good for hitting... the ball bounches off much quicker off a hard sponges, so incoming spin has less effect.

do you know if he uses Bryce on the BH,if so I can see why he does it.
It's hard to bottom out Bryce because of the hard topsheet

IMO I found it quite the opposite. Hitting straight through and the ball just tops out/ doesn't go.
On the other hand when you loop or loop drive the ball goes

Definitely better, for the reasons Haggis gives. You can hit straight through almost anything with hard sponge.
