Hi! I got my Globe 999 nat from oneofakindtrading today, and compared the rubber with those i've got from pingpongonline.com (also Globe 999 nat). I noticed that one rubber has a "25" in the lower right corner, another has a "30". Do these numbers have any relevance, does it make any difference in quality or gameplay?

Regards, Klaus.

i confirm that, my black sheet 2.2 mm blue sponge from oneofakindtrading shows "25".

my red sheet 2.2 mm orange sponge from pingpongonline shows "30"

Just for information, dunno what this means ...

i think it is probably a quality control feature
i read somewhere that the national rubbers are taken from the centre of a large production run so this might be like a grid reference(only guessing)

From what I remember the number does represent some measure of quality. Its been ages so I don't remember which is which. Basically if you get it here you'll be fine. I would be worried about the ones on ebay.

I have experience in injection and blow molding. I have never seen a mold that did not have a mark, usually a number to tell the MFG which machine or mold the part came from. That would be my guess. :D
It sounds like they are made in large sheets, then cut apart and the number might signify what part of the sheet they came from. :)

I confirmed this with Globe some months ago as there were many rumours going around that certain numbers were beter than other...

They confrimed that the number is simply a batch number (big star to hookshot :sunny: ) and has no bearing on the quality of the topsheet...

However I've never seen the standard version with a 30 or 25, only the national version seem to have this.

Globe did have some serious quality control issues with this rubbers, particularly with the red sheets. The problem was a new gluing technique resulting in the topsheets and sponges not glued together properly.

This is why we've had no red sheets for quite a while... but should finally have them back in stock in a fwe weeks time...
