Hi,

I've heard about a new Sanweir rubber called "A+". Has anyone tried it?

I had tried both Sticky & Non-Sticky version. They claim that the topsheet is design by Swiss's lab.
Both come with porous yellow sponge. I would prefer Sticky version for F/H and Non-Stick version for B/H.
It's the fastest rubber among Sanwei product line up.
Quite good rubber.

How is the weight? How much is the spin? How are the looping and blocking characteristics? Can you compare it with a well known rubber?

Being unable to get consistent XuShaoFa 999 LSZ, I have Sanwei A+ en route from Eacheng.net.

Please post a review (along with your playing style) once you try it.

Thanks

Sanwei A+ (non-tacky) black max

Purchased from Eacheng.net. Specs now in the OOAK Rubber Mass Database.

A+ non-tacky has a subtly pebbled and very pliable topsheet and a dry-looking (urethane?) sponge that feels medium. The topsheet has no tackiness and can't lift a ball off the table. Very easy to cut when installing, but one of the very few that didn't adhere well to my Donic glue sheet (Tenergy being the other).

In play, A+ is fast and crisp with a pronounced low throw. Compensating for the low throw, topspin drives fly flat and low before dipping violently; then leaping off the table. The speed of this rubber get opponents' attention in a hurry; at least compared to my regular 999 LSZ. Despite the speed, it's uncannily accurate and easy to handle. In fact, I brought it to my club's weekly RR last Thursday with zero practice time on it and managed to win four out of five of my matches. Spin on serve is decent but not up to the insane level of 999 LSZ.

I was initially enamored with it to the point that I was going to adopt it as my new rubber, replacing my beloved XSF 999 LSZ. But a subsequent training session on my robot exposed how much A+'s low throw angle was affecting my blocking game, and it was no picnic on FH drives either, requiring a deliberate upward motion just to get the ball to do its flat/low trajectory and clear the net (think Hurricane II). Don't get me wrong; I think A+ is a revolutionary rubber -- at least for Sanwei -- as it purports to be the creation of Institute for Surface Chemistry, YKI in Sweden. It's radically different than the Sanwei T88-I that I purchased and tested from the same lot from Eacheng.

Sanwei A+ (non-tacky) reminds me of Palio Blitz, except A+ is faster, crisper, lower throw, and far more accurate. I've since given the sheet of A+ to my coach so I won't be able to test it further.

Looks like quite a high quality topsheet too! The low throw would put me off personally as well, but I'm sure some would like it. It sounds a bit like JUIC Couga, although probably not quite as fast.

Hi - this is my first post -
I treid Sanwei A+ non tack yesterday night - both FH and BH on a Sanwei F1 carbon arylate blade.
I was surprised with the amount of spin they produce and yet how good the control is.
The speed is decent not out of this world fast maybe a tad slower than the T88-1.

They do have a bit of a low throw so one has to adjust the angle and the stroke direction -
however I think they are great rubbers overall.

Hi There,

I use Sanwei A+ on both sides on a Donic Perssson Carbotec fiberglass blade for 2 months.

I think this is one of the best rubbers I have played with so far.

I was using European/Japanese rubbers (Sriver, Bryce, Acuda S3, Mambo, Narucross GS ) before and after switching to A+ I realized how much of my allround game potential was being dissmissed by those Euro/Jap rubbers that throw like a catapult.

This rubber can both attack and defend, chop, and shoot precisely.

I was a bit afraid when I saw the top sheet had some deformations ( black sopts ) on them, but this has nothing to do with the quality, the rubber is very consistent, controlled, spiiney and with a fiberglass blade like mine, can attack from enormous ditances with power and precision.

FYI

Nathanso,
Can You compare in with Palio Blitz in terms of spin, speed, arc, (trajectory).
Thank You

After months of league level regular training:

( tacky 2mm)
- more spinny than tackiness c. Can easily lift the ball. Long lasting.
- Soft / medium sponge
- Too many gears. Absolutely more aggressive than tackiness c. If you want it to be.
- Blocks and shoots perfect (10+)
- spins perfect ( 10+)
- But you must know what you are doing. I still use it on persson carbotec and someone tried to test it but couldn't land a single ball on the table. So you must be a well trained player to appreciate the gears on this rubber.
If you use your rubbers hardness ( like butterfly bryce) to push the ball, rather than properly moving your arm, this rubber will not forgive your gap.

That is why this is a Chinese rubber. It absorbs the ball. You have to perfectly complete your arm and body move and than it will be able to put the ball to where you want so control is 7. ( because it still has some hardness into the sponge)

Overall the perfect Chinese rubber but I wouldn't recommend to beginners or mid level players that still has to learn arm/feet/body movements.

Imagine a far more improved friendship rubber.

Tough I'm addicted now.

FYI

Wow.. this is a challenge. Maybe, finally, a Chinese rubber that's different from other Chinese rubbers (to me they're all play about the same...) Maybe I'll order a sheet. Oh wait... $20. Forget it...
