Domination is faster than Topspin C and sticky.
Topspin C is only grippy.
Also Domination has a little freshclue effect, means it feels
a bit more springy.

thanks for the comparison. so it would seem to me that Domination would have better pace and topspin c better control. i starting to think the Joola would be better for my skill level (and table distance, i'm kind of limited to about 5 feet back when i practice, and generally find this to be a good all-around distance in terms of maneuverability). it's also a little easier on my pocket.

so the Joola Topspin C and Energy Xtra are both better for chopping than the Tango Defensive?

Topspin C is probably the easist to chop with, but you want to loop as well right!

Xtra is better for all round looping/chopping than Tango, but Tango in 1.2 (ie defensive version) will be far easier to chop with than Xtra in 1.8

I've not used Domination, but it's probably a better long term choice. Being harder sponged it will take more time to get a good loop going. Harder sponged rubbers require a different and more demanding technique. Xtra would be the easy way to start (soft for easy looping, lots of power, easy low gear for chopping).

Another consideration, Energy Extra, being a Tensor, will have a short life. A sheet of Domination should last at least twice as long.

I have another choice: the Tibhar Super Defense 40.
It is a really nice rubber for chopping, great control and a lot of spin is possible. It also allows you to attack.

Compared to the Topspin C, I prefer the Tibhar which is more consistant with a beter control.

In the same kind of rubber, you have the Donic Slice 40 but he have some problem with long term use, some cracks appears on the rubber.

The Domination is fine too, but the tuned version loose really fast the sticky effect, I have heard this is not the case with the normal version.

just to clarify...I've heard several different accounts now of Domination, and I've been under the impression that it was a grippy (not tacky) rubber, but I've also heard some describe it as tacky. So which is it?

I have not used the regular version but the tuned version of Domination is.....how can I put it-you get what you're paying for!

edit: mine (tuned version) is pretty sticky, almost like H3 but on a fast sponge.

well i got a lot of practice in tonight, doing quite a few fh chops, and found that i'm able to pull them off just fine with my set-up, it just require the right form. i haven't done much against heavy loops, but i imagine i'll be able to get those eventually. and generally i'm able to get a backhand chop against heavy loops. but against topspin hits i can easily get a pretty good fh chop now. once i have the form down better i'll move on to a more specialized rubber, as i imagine i'll appreciate it more. but the regular Domination in 1.5 is looking pretty nice.

I find chopping with Higher3 to be pretty decent once you get used to it. After the first forehand chop I usually twiddle; that way, as the spin builds I can handle with the pips.

yeah i find it much more difficult dealing with power loops. my problem was just with having too vertical of a bat and too hard of a stroke, trying to imitate my backhand lp chops, which can handle that type of style. i imagine that a more defensive rubber, such as the Domination, would be better capable of doing this.

I second that super defence is great! Smashing is really good too.
Armstrong Hikari SR7 is good too

I would recommend Globe 999 (standard edition) in 1,5 I use it on defensive blade and have great control but speed enough to loop fine..
It is kind of slow and controlled when chopping.
But when you hit loop it has an extra gear..
