The difference between tenergy and 729 general is 80 dollars. At three per year thats a whole tournament in Melbourne, travel both ways and a night in a luxury hotel :). Tenergy doesn't even make more spin, just feels more like jelly :)?.

Hah that isn't quite true though, is it... :)

As of the time of writing it is totally true :). If one day I find out how to make more spin with soft jelly rubbers like tenergy I may change my mind :).

It's not really their spin that makes them good, though. Some of the Tenergy series do have good spin - 05 and 80 in particular - but it's their feel and their "catapult effect", i.e. the ease with which you can generate serious speed, that makes them good for a lot of players.

If I was just looking to spin the ball I'd use tacky Chinese rubbers every day of the week.

Speaking of which, I'll soon be moving to H3 Prov on JSH, because I suspect it'll actually suit my game better. And because I've been desperate to try it for many months...

You are right, all those shots you can't quite hit perfectly end up better with modern rubbers. If you have the time or can somehow gain time with a slow backhand then the harder rubber are no real disadvantage.

Yup, that's exactly it. Not exactly a good habit to get into, granted - but useful at my level of the game. Also good for some players who struggle to generate their own speed though in truth I'm fairly comfortable with doing just that regardless of rubber.

Good luck dunc, hope it suits your game. A good friend of mine who was just shy of 2000 USATT with a LP combo before going on an EJ spree, switched to JSH blade combo with H3 on the forehand like 3 weeks before he switched to double inverted. He still uses H3 on his Forehand and loves it. I tried it on his JSH and it is very different than the tenergy series. It has excellent control, but definitely was not for me. H3 Required too much effort on every FH stroke and I already ware myself down being so active playing defense, additionally I am twiddling at ever increasing rate and the H3 doesnt work on the backhand like the tenergy does. Just things to think about, but if it fits your game by all means it could be revolutionary (hey, at least thats what we all hope for everytime we switch rubbers)

Aye, the backhand is a concern - especially as there are certain opponents, these days, where I tend to use the "twiddle loop" on my backhand a significant amount.

If it's considerably better on my forehand than the T80, if it helps me to develop stroke consistency, I'll use it. If it's "just the same" or not as good I'll certainly put the T80 back on.

When I've had H3N (not the Prov version or anything) it has been too slow for me. So we'll see.

Yeah, this was my main gripe with the H3 albeit the provincial or commercial, also the skyline. But my friend can use it to a wonderful effect, he blasts it with some serious power and very good control too. This is probably because 2 reasons: 1 my form is not that great and 2 it still requires a good bat speed/power in your shots (hard to do on a consistent basis without good form, and even with good form still takes more energy than say with Tenergy)

Last night, in a bit of a panic before my league match, I tried to boost "through" the glue - I used Falco Life Expander on the sponge (through the glue) and on the topsheet, left it 12 hours then glued it on.

Oh man, after boosting "through" the glue, my T80 feels utterly, utterly disgusting and completely dead. I'm gonna have to strip all the glue off and completely start from scratch. Horrible!
