The new biotech is different to the September one, giving it another argument against biotech and for the standard version. 1st: its sponge is the same as the 2.0mm standard, the previous one was thinner albeit the print on both says 1.8mm, 2nd: the boost effect is still there but not for low pressure balls. I took an edge of the remnants to test with PO and I quickly got a nice dome without any harm to the topsheet. I'll put 1 layer PO on the whole rubber and reglue it tomorrow.

Finally found the graphic that lists the three types of topsheet. Yeah, it's in Chinese... Not that I can read it, but, well, it's pretty clear what it's about...

So there 3 different topsheets are the 1.6mm, 1.5mm and 1.4mm thickness?

I think they can get away with it, as long as they only sell it in China. Of course some online shops will sell it outside China, but Palio won't take responsibility for this.

Those are, I think, pip lengths. Yup, three different ones. And with most CJ8000 sheets, they don't tell you what you get.

They did at one time.. (like the sheet you see). The more recent sheets don't seem to be designated A, B or C - instead they sell "close to the table", "loop", etc. variants. Maybe because the pip lengths were confusing, or perhaps they've done away with the practice. Maybe most people can't tell the difference anyway. Like myself.

Most versions available at Ali/Eacheng should have the B-topsheet, one exception is the Light&Fast which should be the C-topsheet. I notice a slightly thinner base for the C-version, not so much a difference in the pips. So it should be and it eventually is a tad more elastic compared to B-sheets. I still prefer the B above the C.

Let me take that back. Those aren't pip lengths, those are total topsheet thickness. Note that the A topsheet (1.4 mm) can come with sponge as thick as 2.6mm, while the B topsheet (1.5 mm) can come with sponge as thick as 2.5mm. Add the two and you get a maximum 4mm thickness. Mind you, I've NEVER seen sponge this thick offered anywhere, so I suspect the great majority of those options either aren't made or haven't been made in a long time. Or may only be made if someone makes a mistake and slices sponge too thick.. Note that the hardest sponges are offered with the thick topsheet (A), while the softest are only available with the thinnest (C). I'll betcha this was someone's bright idea from years ago that they eventually gave up on and don't do anymore.
