Are tacky inverted rubbers ( of course there are no tacky pimples or anti  ) better for chopping? For those who have experience using both rubbers or have insights, please share the difference between the two. Not necessarily confined to chopping. I am planning to shift to tacky rubbers on my back hand coming from soft rubber.

I think it depends a lot on personal preference. For soft and slow balls I find it easier to load up the spin with tacky rubbers, but for other parts of the game it seems just as spinny, and the non-tacky tends to be a little less sensitive to spin.
If you're going to loop as well, real tacky rubbers seem not as spinny, but with mildly tacky or non-tacky I seem to be able to get plenty of spin.

Would one of the specialist Victas rubbers which is designed for chopping meet what you're looking for ?

Agree with haggisv, it depends on personal preference. I find chopping with tackies a lot harder compared to something like mark V or Joola Mambo.

I am considering Hurricane 3 to replace my joola rhyzm. Also, tacky rubbers tend to be unusable when it is so humid. Is this correct?

729 gets slick but 999T is pretty usable even when it's humid. Don't have data for anything else.

Changing from a typical medium soft rubber to a H3 could add another 10 grams to your setup and it could make it uncomfortable to use. It can also result in wrist tendonitis.

This is a really good point. I played with a heavy double-inverted blade that I borrowed for a few days, when I stopped using OX LP on a very light blade. The difference in weight was significant, and I immediately started finding that my wrist hurt and I tired quickly. Maybe that could be overcome with exercise and physio, but I consider it a risk with heavy kit.

Tacky will have a slight lag in ball take off, a hold and release feel. If you use tacky you get used to the timing of that little hold or grab feel. This also happens on serves, tacky being especially a little easier to generate low short and spinny serves (to me anyway) .

Thank you on your insights. I might give it a go. But I think I can't handle additional weight anymore.

I see the weights in your signature and smile. I would need to use both arms to swing a 183 gram set up! My current favorite is 160 g.

I have not tried weighing my primary set-up. I am used to using heavier set-up but I'm feeling the effect in my wrist.

I think at least somewhat tacky helps with both looping and chopping, as well as serving, but requires reading incoming spin better. I could never loop at all with the Donic rubbers because there was no tackiness to help grab the ball initially.

My current setup with 0X on one side and Tacky MAX Grip-S Europe soft on the other with 1 mm edge tape and handle tape weighs in at 158 gr, which is at least 15 gr more than the same setup with 1.8 mm Rakza 7 Soft, and it is noticeable. It is also noticeably slower, but might ber fast enough to attack with the right strokes, and does chop well because the chops have tremendous spin.

Any kind of slow rubber is better for chopping. There are a number of dedicated defensive rubbers that are easier to chop. Some of them are tacky, mild tacky or non tacky at all.

Many modern Chinese style rubbers are as light or lighter then some modern Euro/Asian style rubbers.

Red Lion said in the beginning he wanted something that could chop, but not limited to chopping.

What Chinese style rubbers are lighter? All the ones I've had have been very heavy.

I would like to find something very spinny that has enough tackiness to help get lots of spin on serves, that is also pretty fast, but not heavy. If I had to describe it it would be a tackier Yasaka Rakza 7 Soft or a tackier Nittaku Narucross GS Soft. Those both have excellent mechanical spin, and are reasonably light, but don't have a lot of tackiness to get the ball spinning fast on serves.

IMO, the "chopping" rubbers I've tried are just too slow to hit successfully with.

The Tibhar Grip-S Europe Soft is borderline speed wise. Its quite heavy, but is at least somewhat tacky and gets great spin on serves, and after I cut down the blade to closer to normal sized yesterday, I was able to hit a bit better with it. It is still pretty heavy though. I'm at 144 gr with the Grip-S, which feels quite heavy to me, and does slow me down, but was a lot easier to swing than the the 157 gr anchor it was before I trimmed down the size. It will be a while to adjust to it, though. Every time I change something it takes weeks or months to adjust.

I am very interested to hear of any rubbers that are very spinny, somewhat tacky, reasonably light or at least not heavy, and fast enough to hit with, but still good at chopping, Chinese or otherwise?
