-Comments: I cannot recall the thickness I used (likely 2mm), but I was not satisfied with this rubber. It seemed to somehow muffle my offensive shots, and if I recall it seemed to shut down if offensive play became too rigorous. By śhut down´ i mean that the ball would make contact with the rubber with a cracking sound, and then fall short. Still, I feel that I ought to add that at the time when I used it, my level of play was not at the level it is now, so, my misgivings could have been framed by my ability at that point in time. Yet I was familiar with the Donic A´conda rubber at that time, and even then held that rubber in higher regard. This was at least 7 years ago. I did not think that it was a good rubber to chop with, but it was excellent to block with. It provides a huge parameter in which to block an opponent´s aggressive topspin shots.

I really like the Yanus rubber, but it seemed prone to shredding and splitting. In instances when your racquet edge makes hard contact with the table, that portion of rubber is likely to break and split. Now, I am a more ´function over form´ kind of guy, so a little rubber breakage does not bother me, but I owned at least three sheets of this rubber and it happened every time. I don´t think it lasts a long time, and though it offered great control and has a swath of capabilities, I do not think it generated a great deal of backspin.

Ah, a classic. Mark V is a durable long lasting rubber. I have used the 1.5mm and higher. As it ages the ´throw´ of the rubber changes, I believe. But it lasts a very long time. In retrospect, I am intrigued by a 1.0mm Mark V. I have not used it so thin, but, I really think that is worth trying.

Thanks for thinking to make this list. It is so difficult to find information about smooth rubbers that are used defensively. I have no doubt that the information folks provide here will help others on the same path.

Dr. Neubauer Special Defense in 1.0mm is really good, expensive but good.

Dr. Neubauer Domination in 1.5mm is recommended by Paul Pinkewinch (top chopper).

I'm currently using Tibhar Super Defense 1.3mm, I like it but I might go down to .9mm

I have Armstrong Hikari SR7 40°, 1.0mm on order

I happily used Reflectoid for a lot of years, but it doesn't work on my current blade.

Nittaku Moristo DF. I am still high on the performance of this rubber. I have been using the same red sheet for two years now and it still plays well. That's durability for you, considering I acquired it cheap and pre-owned! (or second hand). I use it sparingly for serious play and tourneys.

It has worked well for me on push block type of play. Mostly on chop-block at the table and to chop a step or two away from the table. It plays well on my Adidas Challenge Speed, Kim Jung Hoon, Acoustic Carbon and currently with my new favorite the Joola Rossi Emotion.

Just played a tourney with 3 wins and a single loss to a long pimple player (never had patience for those). Playing some of my finest game with the new blade and the trusty Moristo DF on my BH.

Found on Aliexpress and Eacheng with blue sponge I purchased the 1.5 for $8 USD. Chops brilliantly and has more offense when attacking. Fast on topspins and flat hits, dampening on chops. Has a clicky feel, kind of like Victas V>401. The large pores give it more dwell and sink. Far faster than TSP Triple Spin Chop and not as tacky. About the same tack as Reflectoid, but faster. Higher throw but still real good. Serves are not as spinny as TSP, but about the same as Reflectoid which is still good. Beware, the site says it sells 1.0mm but they do not actually have that size, which is too bad, because that's what I wanted.
