It only comes in 2.0mm or max, not anything less. Unfortunately our samples were all in max.

Actually, you'd posted this in your first Regalis post...and I see it's the same on the TSP site:

Quote:
sponge thickness: 1,5 | 2,0 | max
speed: 102 | control: 94 | spin: 109
retail price: 43,90€

So, Alex...do you have either of these in stock yet? I am kicking myself for cutting my free sheet to the standard sized blade. I loved it on the defplay.....

Yes, that was from the TSP Germany site (I didn't notice that  )... the TSP Japan site shows only 2mm and max.

Yes we have some Regalis in stock now

That's a really well made video, thanks for posting gentlemac, and welcome to the forum!
Is it yours?

My German is too poor to understand... can anyone translate or summarise?

Hi haggisv! Thx a lot!

Yeah, that's me in the video, but not my voice. My old friend "Croudy" (the other guy in the video) is responsible for cutting and editing on our channel so he is also doing the voiceovers. We are working on english subtitles for future video releases.

As long time "read-only user" it's nice being active part of "ooak" from now on!

Welcome Gentlemac. I couldn't understand many words on the vid sorry, but seems like you like the Regalis Blue as I do. If you see the video of Haggisv and I playing, I am using the Regalis Blue on my FH in it.

Yes, I like Regalis Blue a lot! It's placed as forehand rubber nr.1 for the upcomig season on my NSD blade. Fast enough for looping, good control on block and chop, hard but not "dead" like chinese rubbers or to heavy on oversized DEF blades. The maximum spin level is sufficient too.

Its characteristics are somewhere between Victas 401 (ESN sponge, harder and higher weight) and Tenergy64 (faster with higher catapult and less control) which I played before. Definitly very usable for moderne defence with powerloops and chopping. Regalis latin meaning is "royal", so it seems to me they tried to combine the best of different worlds. You have to play with it a few sessions to see its full potential. More linear than ESN, not as "dead" as chinese rubbers, easier to play than all Tenergys... high end for the "average joe".

1.5mm sponge of my testrubber has 1.7mm for real. The 2.0mm version comes in 1.8mm remeasured so I think the difference is negligible.

bumping this because I don't want to make a new thread.

bump.

First hit with regalis blue on a xiom offensive s.
It's... ok. I can't say I'm enthralled by it.

A few things first - i'm returning after a long absence away from the table. And returning as a shakehand. And this is a new blade and i made haggisv glue it together for me so I'm not sure of the blade characteristics yet.

anyway my initial thoughts (compared to what I used to use - acoustic/t05/t64):
- it's harder than I would typically play - a good 2-3 deg.
- the blade/rubber synergy on slower shots is giving me the sort of vibration/feedback I used to go to great lengths to avoid. Faster shots, ok.
- Right now I feel less margin for error - because I'm swinging harder to get the same speed, and well, my technique right now is unstable (crap).
- Much flatter arc and much lower throw than t05/64. Having to hold back when swinging away from the table because technique isn't all there yet.
- Less spin than my previous fh and bh.
- blocking is crazy. Just stick the bat in front and the ball goes back low with good speed.
- off the bounce loop/counterloop at the table is great. low and fast. Couldn't load the ball as much vs push.
- serving... average.

all in all its ok. It reminds me fairly closely of a sheet of Mark V M2 unglued. I suspect I'd have a much more positive experience with it on a faster, stiffer blade (maybe a septear or a tbs) as the sponge would have to work a bit harder, or if it was a few degrees softer.
