Despite my previous posts about a new blade I've decided to stick with the Yasaka Extra for a while. It has a new sheet of Haifu Whale on it which is hard and tacky. I'll use this on my forehand. On my backhand I'm looking to replace a worn sheet of Nittaku Zalt.

I'm opening up and looping against backspin more and more so looking at something that does this well. I also serve backhand at least 50% of the time so looking for good spin. I also block and push a bit with the backhand. I'm not sure whether to go tacky/non-tacky, hard or soft, tensor or non-tensor on that basis that I'm not sure what kind of rubber suits my style.

I'll be buying from ooak shop http://www.tabletennisshop.com.au

Some options I'm looking at are: -
Hurricane / Skyline NEOs
Maybe one of the AVX Rubbers though not many reports about them
Joola Zack
Donic Vario Soft
Xiom Musa III
Donic Desto F3 Big Slam
Mark V
Xiom Vega xx or Zeta

My next purchase I probably plan to get a matching tensor on both forehand and backhand so this is just a stepping stone to further develop my stroke.

What do you think?

You can see me in action here: -

June this year. I wouldn't have changed much though perhaps backhand a bit more aggressive and looping more long balls.

An issue I'm seeing is you're putting a lot of effort into the shot and it's messing up your technique a bit - so I'd go for something that arcs a bit more and gets a bit more speed than whatever you were using

Yes I agree, my effort levels are now seem even higher than what you can see there.

Do any of the rubbers above fit the bill, maybe vego pro as suggested?

I've watched that video haha, i must say that bh serves is exactly my bread and butter last time.
Once in a while few guys shouted illegal cause i float the ball too low, very much like in your second video.
But yeah manage to get heavy sidespin on my serves that way last time.

Not sure how vega pro plays, but you would want something that arcs (safety) and is soft/springy/catapult, so you don't feel like you're having to rip each ball to get it into the sponge. If you picked a tensor, I'd say something like 40 to 42 deg, a speed focused topsheet (ie, not one of those semi-tacky spin focused ones). The idea being, give you some extra speed on each shot to get you to control your stroke a bit more and stop having to really try to muscle everything over.

of your list:

Hurricane / Skyline NEOs nope
Maybe one of the AVX Rubbers though not many reports about them
Joola Zack probably not
Donic Vario Soft no, but i could be thinking of one of the older vario rubbers
Xiom Musa III this sounds like Zack
Donic Desto F3 Big Slam Yes, but possibly go to F2 instead if you dont want something that soft
Mark V nope
Xiom Vega xx or Zeta Not sure what Vega xx or vega pro play. Zeta was a bit hard.

Sorry for an uninvited advice on technique, but you should really work on your footwork during BH topspin - focus on transfering the weight to your right leg during the backswing and the left one during the shot (not "dancing" but still distinct weight transfer, even in parallel stance). It will allow a more natural, relaxed movement and significantly increase the spin and speed you'll be able to put on the ball.
Why I am telling this: if I were you I would better change the technique first, as your rubber preference may also somewhat change when better utilizing its possibilities.
You will experience a very quick improvement if you start involving your legs.

Thanks al, unsolicited feedback welcome and noted. In regards to the rubber, my old one is stuffed so I'm just looking to replace it. I'm not trying to shortcut by replacing a perfectly good rubber. Might as well get something that suits my game.

I'll try engage legs more :)

Really interested in this topic as I am about to purchase a new backhand rubber in the next week or so (current rubber a bit too hard for my taste and abilities).

As of now I am almost certain to get Xiom Vega Europe DF as it ticks all the boxes I am looking for: according to reviews it should be soft, spinny and not too fast/beginner friendly.

Very favorable recent review from haggisv made me go for it for sure: viewtopic.php?f=44&t=30512

I was also considering Hexer Duro which seems considered as great "do it all" rubber, Ventus Spin which got solid review on tt-spin.de blog and was compared as similar to Hexer Duro with a bit more spin which sounds great.

Also Rakza 7 soft which I use on forehand could be a great choice on backhand too, its super spinny and yet not too difficult to use in blocking and pushing, lasts a long time (one of my sheets is 7 months old and still plays fine) and is very popular among intermediate players around here.

Or try Yinhe 9000. If you don't like it you're out $5.15 for the sheet.

The 9000 and differences have been described in Iskandar's training-rubber thread. Iirc its differences were weight and speed.
Also interesting, for me at least, the Dragon training rubbers from ttnpp, $4 each with top-sheets from Emperor, Drunken, Hidden or Wildish Dragon.

Didn't you use Victas V 01 Limber before, and liked it?

You could go for something similar, or perhaps Vega Europe which is similar. Regalis Red is another option if you want a more linear feel.
