I've used R47, R42 and V42 for the past few weeks (gave up on R50 - much too hard for me).

They're excellent rubbers. Forget the thin topsheet thing - it's a marginal change at best and the topsheets are thicker than Acuda Blue or Rasant Beat anyway. Ultramax is a bit thicker, but not so much that you'd lose sleep over it.

In the world of incremental ESN rubber development, these are another small step up in performance vs ease-of-use. I thought Evolution EL-S was a similar thing as well, and rasanter feels like a further development from there. I've switched to V42 on the backhand (R42 just throws a bit higher than I'd like on that wing), and I'd probably use R47 on the FH if I hadn't recently gone back to tacky on that side.

I don't think they can go anywhere after rasantest though ( seriously bad naming on their side, rasanter is just as lame as xiom's naming blade and rubber the same imho.)

Their packaging is awesome tho.

They could always go with the tried and true method of adding a number or a letter and a number after the name, but that might get a little complicated with their current naming scheme.

Resanter X3 R50 or Resanter V3 R47

Tibhar has just released the new Aurus Prime and Aurus Select... guess what the major feature is.... you guessed it, a thinner topsheet with a thicker sponge.

Yeah, it's the usual ESN cross-pollination thing. Donic Bluestorm will probably be along the same lines too.

A nod in butterfly rozena and nittaku factive for not recycling old names. Early reviews is saying that the rozena is better on bh and slighly tamer t05, time will tell.

AndySmith, what thickness are the Rasanter you tried? When you say R50 is too hard is it like H3, BW2 hard?

I used these:

V42 - Red - 2.0
R42 - Red - 2.0
R47 - Black -Ultramax
R50 - Black -Ultramax

R50 is, obviously, 50 degrees on ESN's scale of choice. Luckily, on the back of Tibhar Hybrid K1 (another ESN) they list an ESN hardness of 50 and a chinese hardness of "39-40" (Hybrid K1 Plus is 52.5 and 39.5-40.5, as a side note). So R50 isn't so far away from a 39 degree H3, but ESN uses more porous sponges than traditional DHS rubbers so maybe they'll always feel a but more easily compressible.

The R topsheet is pretty tough as well, so that adds a bit to the overall feeling of hardness. It feels harder than, say, OVA or MX-S, even though they have similar 50 degree sponges on paper.

Thanks Andy. So I was lucky that R50 MAX is out of stock at tt11 and I am getting a 2.0 to try.

So after Rasant and Rasanter, we all assume the next rubber will be Rasantest. What will come after that - Rather Rasant? Really Freakin' Rasant? Curiously Rasanty? Most Rasantish?
