I'm interested in this. On the request of my coach I dropped from Tenergy to Sriver, which feels much slower and more controlled, and allows me to play a full stroke with confidence.

If a player's objective is to develop the ability to spin the ball rather than drive/hit it, I did wonder whether the logical conclusion would be a very slow and very spinny rubber in the largest available sponge.

Donic Slice CD, or Tackiness C would be the obvious ones. Will be interesting to watch these videos and see how the players use their forehands.

Good topic!

What happens if you put one of these ultra-slow rubbers on a OFF++ blade? Does it speed up to "reasonable"?

One more very slow rubber (that most people have never heard of, let alone tried): Reactor Ckylin. Believe me, it's s-l-o-w with a double helping of cream on top.

Her thread is a little confusing. It initially mentions tenergy and then tac c.In her last vid it looks like tac c.

sriver and tackiness drive(harder sponge)in max are decent rubbers for control and give nice power imho.
Its definitely worth trying tac c in 1.9 (soft rubber)
One of the older guys at our club refuses to move and wallops everything with his sriver f/h.

Reactor Ckylin-Speed 7.7
tac c---------------------Speed 5.5 :o
re placing slow rubbers on faster blades.logically it should work.ive always placed slow rubbers on either all round blades or defensive.

Possible.. Haven't played with Tackiness Chop in over 30 years.. May well be way slower than Ckylin.

Then again, whose ratings are these? Tabletennisdb?

Blade: SOULSPIN DEFENSE
FH: Spinny stuff

I use a bunch of them on my defensive blades. Juic 999 Elite defense, tackiness chop 1/2, spinlord marder, reflectoid, etc

Much higher margin of shots landing on the table. Outside of the upper levels, this leads to me winning more games through consistency alone.

I've also tested a bunch of slow rubbers on very fast blades... Garaydia T5000 (tibhar super defense/reflectoid) ... Timo Boll w7 (tsp super spin rubbers/reflectoid) ... and about 10 others!

I did not like the feel of slow rubbers on fast blades. They seemed to bottom out very quickly and didn't cushion the shots much. About all they did was help in dealing with incoming spin. They're certainly playable though. I'm just not sure what game style would enjoy the setup. Maybe someone who attacks 70-80% of the time, yet still wants a decent chop when needed.

I do like playing the BTY Liu Shiwen blade with slower rubbers. A very good mix of offense/defense there.

That's the ratings of 2 different manufacturers though...can't compare as they all use a totally different system to define speed... usually it's related to their fastest rubber in their range, and every other rubber is relative to the fastest one.
For some of the Chinese rubber the ratings seem like pure guesswork.

Ironically,

I can vote that Tackiness Chop are softer and faster due to easier bottoming out than H3, making it less affected by incoming spin, assuming the ball fast enough.

Going by this logic, Chtchetinine equipment a lot faster than Ma Long :P

Before Tenergy, Vic Pavlovich use Tac C

Takashima Norio use Plous, now comparable to Flextra

Telnoy use Marder both side

Hi.What thickness do you prefer.
I have tac c in 1.9 on a cut down grubba pro-i really like it and i get a lot on the table when attacking.
the tac c in 1.9 is excellent on a defplay aswell.
i have anti on the b/h-i do not flip though as the 1.9 is too fast .
