Did you all know about this? I wonder if it's going to be a Karis/Regalis type rubber...

Not that i want to give BTY any $.

(Has it been established that Regalis and Karis are of one kind?)

Here is the description:
Quote:
High performance rubber Rozena, pursuing "tolerance"

Rozena employs the rose-dyed Spring Sponge technology as its name suggests
The newly developed top sheet utilizes High Tension technology
With sufficient power, Rozena helps compensate for subtle racket angles and directional swing errors, creating a sense of stability
A rubber of high tolerance!
Rozena, improves your play through ‘forgiveness’ and is recommended for players aiming for the top

SPECIFICATIONS:

Class: High-Tension Pimples-in
Surface: Pips-In
Speed: 13.0
Spin: 10.8
Density: 35

Yes it does sound like a milder version of Tenergy. Sponge seems quite soft though. I'm not really sure what type of player they're targeting, because surely there is a version of Tenergy for everyone! 8)

On BTY's hardness scale, T05's sponge is 36, T05-FX is 32 and Rozena is 35. It's a shame we can't all use the same scale.

The topsheet will be the important thing. If they want it to be more "tolerant" then I guess it will be less spinny. So what will it be? Something like the Bryce Highspeed topsheet on a slightly softer tenergy sponge? It's not totally out of the question - didn't they put the bryce topsheet on the sriver sponge once and sell it as a new rubber?

Not long to wait now though. Someone will tell us all about it I'm sure.

If it's the Bryce topsheet that would certainly put it in the "thin topsheet" bandwagon. They could also keep the Bryce topsheet symmetry and change the formulation to make it softer or harder (or grippier or less grippy).

If they follow the trend, it will be dependant on the pip structure and be more linear while keeping the high end...lke Regalis or Karis.

We'll see.

I tried some half-hour-old Rozena today for a few minutes, on some composite Butterfly blade whose name I can't remember. I really didn't use it enough to learn that much, but it blocked well against FH loops, seemed spinny enough, and control was fine. No hint of excessive catapult. Admittedly this could apply to any number of other rubbers/blades/users! Couldn't tell you if it was worth the premium over ESN, but the manufacturer's description of its characteristics doesn't seem wrong.

Australian retail is going to be approximately AU$70-something, versus AU$99 for Tenergy.

That fluorescent magenta sponge! I think I just lost a few unsuspecting retina cells! 0.o

SO its like the gateway drug to the Tenergy series at that cost? Maybe BTY are hurting in sales as they are so much more pricey the the mass of ESN sheets out there and want to have a more affordable but still premium marketed level sheet available.

Wow. Here already. If I wanted to I could go buy it a mile down the road...

http://www.presports.com/pimple-in/2471 ... bber.html#

RM50 less than Tenergy (about 77% of the price).

Thinking of buying a set of this rubber.
How much difference will I feel btw a 1,5 sponge and 1,7 or 2,1 in general?

The thinner the sponge the less bouncy it is and the less spin you can achieve with it. So it's mainly for close-to-the-table use and for defence. These days, with the 40mm ball, I'd regard it as specialized equipment. Most people, even beginners, would be best off with 2.1mm. In fact many rubbers are available with only 2.1mm sponge.
