Blade: Andro Fibercomp Def
FH: Nittaku Hammond Pro B 1.8
BH: Dr.Neubauer Desperado2 OX
Hi guys!

I'm a OX LP player (level is somewhere between beginner and intermediate I suppose) with ~70% of my shots made from BH. Though training on improvement, currently FH is my weaker side - I mostly use the inverted side of my blade (Yasaka Zap biotech 36-38 with 1.9 sponge) for blocks, pushes and flat hits. Currently what I observe is my blocks and hits lack speed - the stability improved enough to try to become more dangerous. Also I've never tried the rubbers from more advanced producers like Xiom, Andro, TSP at cetera. I'm now thinking of trying something more modern and speedy(but nothing extreme). Reading the forum, I've came up with some suggestions:

Yasaka Rakza 7 Soft and HPS soft,
Andro Roxon 330,
TSP Ventus Sound,
Xiom Vega elite and Omega IV elite
Nittaku Hammond Pro Beta (not sure if I'm skilled enough for this one)

Also please note that I'm not considering SP or tacky rubbers - not my cup of tea.
If some of you have experience using Fibercomp Def or just have any suggestions for this matter - your help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Andrew

Any intentions of learning to loop?

From posts by some of the blockers on this forum, I gather that a fast rubber is what's really needed for a close-to-the-table blocking game because you want blocks to come off with enough speed to cause your opponent problems. The ZAP you use has soft sponge, plus you're using 1.9mm (where did you find it?). I'd suggest first trying something faster in Chinese - say, ZAP with the 40-42 sponge in max, or even the 42-44 degree sponge. For more money, there's Yinhe Big Dipper (again, try the harder sponge if available - you'll have to ask). You could try one of the Tensors - they're a lot more money and are supposedly best if you're going to loop rather than hit and block.

Yasaka ZAP, by the way, is actually made by Palio. Wasn't it supposed to be deleted from the LARC this year? I've still got a half dozen sheets or so (bought around the same time as that mini-pile of CJ8000, with which it shares the "dish" problem).

Yasaka rubber I use is not available in out local stores anymore (btw the sponge is 1.9 because as per supplier the thickness was inconsistent so they had to remeasure and sort themselves), which is also one of the reason I started looking for something new.

I'm practicing loops on my training, but block will still be the most important element on my FH in the next 6-8 months I believe. Big Dipper is tacky as I remember - grippy rubber is preferable for me

Figures.. Palio definitely has quality control problems.

Big Dipper? Tacky? Nope.. You might also try Mars II and Apollo II (one of the Apollos is non-tacky, I think it's II).

Fibercomp is my main blade. I get great results with Joola Rhyzm 425.

Blade: Butterfly Defence Alpha
FH: Donic Slice 40 CD 1.5 mm
BH: LKTStrgr+KokBLuJap 1.1 mm
Fibercomp is for blocker and chopper, designed to be slow but medium hardness to enable chopping aka Donic Defplay Senso Class Blade. It a maximum safety class ;)

Of course, driving is not it forte. :)

If you want to forego chop and loop completely, you can try these if you friends have it. Hard blade with medium speed.

Yasaka Dynamix 17
Butterfly Gergely 21
Stiga Ebenholz NCT VII (7)
Avalox J-Aramid
Galaxy T-1
Galaxy T-2
Stiga Carbonado 190
DHS Hurricane Hao III
Galaxy Carbokev K-6
DHS Hurricane Hao 656

For rubbers, you could try these.

Yasaka Pryde 30
Yasaka Fusion
JOOLA Energy Green Power X-Soft
Stiga Innova Ultra Light
Andro Rasant Beat
Tibhar Sinus Sound
Donic Desto F3 Big Slam
Xiom Vega Elite
Donic Vario Big Slam
Cornilleau Target Sound 37.5

Blade: Sanwei Fextra 7
FH: PALIO AK47 Red
BH: Dr. Neubauer K.O. Pro 1.5
Andro Fibercomp Def itself is not very sensitive to rubbers so it is ideal for EJ with rubbers ;)
I like this blade as it is very neutral and universal for both chopping and pips blocking.
