I noticed that Yinhe/Galaxy Pluto SP rubber tends to return "dead" balls. Even though its PO on a sponge somehow it doesn't seem to reverse or generate much spin on its own. And it doesn't seem to matter which blade it is on, it always behaves in this way.

PF4 is a Dhs entry rubber buy I'd imagine too tacky for your purpose?

I'll investigate - I don't need something super slow, per se, just something really controllable.

Don't know about controllable - about half of everything just seemed to end up in the net.. Tried both kinds (the stuff with the "normal" sponge and the newer stuff with the metallic packet and the large pore sponge, which, incidentally, was fairly expensive), even tried booster and a (cheap XVT) carbon blade... unusable was more like it.. Dead's a pretty good description. Maybe you need one of those super OFF++ blades to make it work properly (it's touted as "Chinese Blue Fire".. ).

Perhaps "dead" was a poor choice of word... more looking for something with very little spin (but still relatively slow).

Looking for something similar to that rubber I've got on my old pre-made means:
1. Soft sponge.
2. Very little spin (non-tacky).

At this stage, I'll probably buy a cheap whole bat from my club (I think they sell the Addoy ones for ~$15), and just take a rubber off it and whack an H3 or something on there.

Also Spinlord Marder (don't know which one of them) are made for an allround or defensive style.

I'll put in a second vote for Sandwind, l just wonder how it may change as it ages. I haven't had mine long enough to know the durability, yet.

Try a Double Fish premade. Those have truly vile rubber on them.

Marder I is a classical DEF rubber, so the topsheet (which is the same for Marder I-IV) is very spinny. Sandwind has the same sponge as Marder I but its topsheet has much less grip - up to extent that it is actually marketed as "half-anti" where I live.

Reflectoid 1mm. It bottoms out and you can hit through most anything. Plus it's really light.

Sorry, not at all, from my experience. 804 is just not the same as the old premade I have. I don't think it's nice to hit with at all...

Interesting. I thought it would be similar as it produces that same 'sink' effect that old (read 'worn') premades do, along with the low spin sensitivity and generation. Premades often have thinner sponges, perhaps that's why. How thick roughly is it on the one you are trying to mimic?

2mm - it's a very soft sponge. The 804 just doesn't seem to grip it the same as the premade.
