PRW: Are you testing the softer (47.5) Gold Arc 8 or the harder (50) version?

haggisv, the 47.5. It was the only one available I could find, and I prefer softer rubbers (05FX, Rakza7 soft) normally

How does the GA8 compare with the Radza 7, FH as well as BH?
Thanks in advance.

GA8 is way faster so less controll and more spin.
Its better for the new ball than Rakza7.
I played several years with Rakza7 but with the new balls I missed some spin and speed.

Greetings

I would agree with this, although it is some years since I played with Rakza7, and that was prior to the new ball, so it is only my perception. Rakza7 would definitely have more control. I think the GA8 is more suitable for advanced level players - faster, lower throw, more spinny. To me, more suitable for forehand - but that may be because I prefer a more controlled rubber on the backhand.

I really wonder how manufacturers like Giant Dragon do their marketing. It appears non-existent nor do they care, resulting in inadequate information and distribution channels for their products. Wonder how they can ever survive? And there are more than a handful of them around.

Agreed, Ckylin, is slower than most of the more pricey rubbers. "any sort of topspin attack shot ends up in the net" ???
I am able to topspin with it quite well on my T11+, mid and close to table. And I can receive topspin well too.
Maybe if it's on my W6, would result in insufficient power and I would need to exert much more force at mid-distance.

Marketing wasn't their problem... but they were a nightmare to deal with for distributors... so I guess most of them (like us) have just stopped carrying their stuff.

It's also slower than pretty much all the cheap rubbers I've tried.. Even slower than 999. Why did the balls end up in the net? Because I was used to playing with faster rubbers, in fact, all the other rubbers I've tried were a LOT faster. (I did have a sheet of Tackiness Chop almost 40 years ago, that might have been as slow, but I can't remember that far back..)

I suppose the T11+ is also a very fast blade, I suppose that would make up for it.

Actually, that sounds exactly like a marketing problem...

"I suppose the T11+ is also a very fast blade, I suppose that would make up for it. "

Looks that way, the T11+ making up the power.
I will be slapping 2 fast rubbers, the Stiga Mantra H and the Donic Bluestorm, on my T11+
I'll see whether I can handle this.
Unfortunately need to wait for 8 - 10 weeks, got a tiny foot fracture to heal before I can play again.

Perhaps we have touched on another interesting topic here "Whether small manufacturers should be supported - The pros and cons"
But this is not the thread.

I agree, excellent idea for a new thread.
