Boxersss, latest review on Gold Arc 8 would be appreciated. Especially on control and looping as with any new rubber you probably need to make some adjustments for better control and for a more comprehensive assessment.

Some reviews by TTDB are crap. These are by inexperience players. But then what choice do we have? Should base on reviews by more than 30 then.

I like the GA8, its a fast rubber and i can control it now with my FH.
I can generate a lot of spin when looping and counter looping is easy. Also when pushing it generates a lot of backspin.

It's a very good rubber but for me it's to fast for my BH. Strangely I prefer H8 on my BH............
And H3 Neo prof blue sponge on my FH.

I stay with my earlier conclusions.

Speed: GoldArc8>Tenergy 05>Rasanter R42
TopSpin: GoldArc8=Tenergy05=Rasanter R42
Backspin/push: GoldArc8=Rasanter R42>Tenergy05
Block: GoldArc8=Tenergy05>Rasanter R42
Control: GoldArc8<Tenergy 05<Rasanter R42
Chop: GoldArc8<Tenergy05<Rasanter R42
Smash: GoldArc8<Tenergy05<Rasanter R42

Wow.. It beats Tenergy 05 in quite a few categories.. maybe I'll try it next as my latest challenge.. It IS fairly expensive stuff, though.

(Or maybe I'll just bite the bullet and get a sheet of Tenergy 05... It'll probably be a while, I've got my newly Falcoed sheet of "dead" MX-P mounted, we'll see what it's like this weekend.)

Boxersss, Thank you for the review.

I guess by now, other manufacturers have caught up with Tenergy.
This GA8 may be comparable and a whopping 60% of the price of Tenergy.
I think others have comparable rubbers too, such as, Stiga Mantra, Donic Bluestorm Z1, Yasaka Rising Dragon etc...
And a real cheapie one, Giant Dragon Superveloce V12 FX

Any reviews on them yet?

I am thinking of sticking the stiga mantra/donic bluestorm/dhs GA8 (2 out of the 3) to my Galaxy T11+
Any comments would be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

I have tried the Yasaka Rising Dragon.

You cant compare that with tenergy 05!

I also have a T11+. Didnt like the heavy(thick sponge) rubbers on this light blade.

Well, TTDB gave some pretty good numbers to it, rating it tops in spin and speed.
Though you may feel that some TTDB ratings are not that accurate - that's why the curiosity to check it out.
Hey, I am pretty satisfied with my cheapie Ckylin Small Blue Fire. It generates lots of spin (attested by many of those I played with) and lots of control but of course its not as fast / powerful.

I put a sheet of this on my spare blade last night, replacing an old Tenergy 05FX, and had a brief hit. Unfortunately, I didn't weight the rubber before I put it on - but the bats used to weigh the same overall (185g), and now the spare is 197g - so I guess the GA8 is a lot heavier!

Initial impressions are very good. With the GA8 blade, shots seemed to be crisper, and faster - but with really good short ball control. When I went back to the T05FX, I seemed to lack power - which I have never felt before, and I suspect/ assume it is just the contrast to the GA8.

The spare blade also has T05FX on the backhand, vs Rakza7 Soft on the main blade - and the T05FX on the backhand was producing lower, more arcing topspin, which was very effective.

SO: further investigation required! I am still not actively playing matches/ league at the moment, due to an achilles issue that is taking ages to heal, so have time to experiment.

Here is a video that made me decide to try it:

Try watching that video without sound. The first few seconds, at least, become quite bizarre... Dragonball fans...

Interesting that Gold Arc 8 was the choice of two of the winners on the recent blade and rubber giveaway.

has anyone else tried this rubber? I am very impressed with it - short spinny serves, easy opening loops - when I switch back and forth between a blade with Tenergy 05FX on the fh, and a blade with the DHS GA8, I seem to win games easier with the DHS - yet don't actively seem to be doing anything different?

I think it is a consequence of tighter spinnier serves, and more direct loops .... still testing...

How does the GA8 compare with the Radza 7, FH as well as BH?
Thanks in advance.

PRW: Are you testing the softer (47.5) Gold Arc 8 or the harder (50) version?

The problem with Giant Dragon is.. where to buy it? One of the local stores (Tenryu) carries some Giant Dragon rubbers but they all seem to be long pips. ttnpp doesn't have it, Eacheng doesn't have it, ordering from the US or Europe means expensive shipping charges.. Ah well...

Ckylin, I must admit, is one of those rare rubbers that is totally different compared to all the other rubbers out there. And it's just way too slow for me.. any sort of topspin attack shot ends up in the net.

GA8 is way faster so less controll and more spin.
Its better for the new ball than Rakza7.
I played several years with Rakza7 but with the new balls I missed some spin and speed.
