This rubber sound intersting, does anyone know anything about it? Sounds like a Chinese/German Hybrid, which can be effective if they do it right.
A 50deg sponge sounds a little hard though, and I'm not sure how such a firm sponge can be so 'forgiving'.

Image

The new JOOLA Golden Tango is „Made in Germany“, combining the advantages of a tacky upper rubber, usually characteristic of Chinese rubbers, with the enormous elasticity and speed of a Tensor sponge.
This interaction results in a completely new sensation. The tacky surface offers maximum grip thus enabling loaded topspin and undercut strokes at the most extreme blade angles. JOOLA Golden Tango produces incredible rotation and an arched trajectory. The molecular structure of the energetic sponge underlay makes JOOLA Golden Tango extremely elastic and provides sufficient speed reserves to counter unexpected spin attacks. The sponge is very forgiving, therefore it also offers maximum control for all cut variations either at the table or from half-distance.

Additional Information
Strategy DEF - OFF ex.
Speed fast
Spin extra high
Hardness 54

It's an interesting one. 54 might be too hard overall for me - I use Hybrid K1 Plus (52.5 sponge) and it's just right - but the K1 topsheet on a more typical ESN porous sponge is far, far better IMO than older ESN attempts at tacky rubbers (I'm thinking about Thor's and Tau here). Definitely worth looking at if you want a high-quality semi-tacky quick-ish rubber.

Yes that was my thought too... hence my interest. ;) Minimum sponge is 1.8mm though, whereas the Victas 401 goes as low as 1.5mm.

I wonder if there's a BIOS logo on the back...

Isn't this an old idea? I thought at least one of those Palio Tensors was tacky.

I'm not sure where this 'bios' thing started, but it means little more than marketing to me.

Yes you're right, the idea of tack topsheet + Tensor is not new (Thor is probably the one you're thinking off), but I still like the idea and I tend to like those types of rubbers, so I'm always interested.

BIOS is another trademark that belongs to ESN. According to some people, it means "4th Generation" rubber (though not necessarily 4th Generation Tensor, there are rubbers with the BIOS logo which are not Tensors). Of course, this whole "generation" thing is rather vague and there's people talking about fifth, sixth, seventh etc. generation Tensors and all of these things have the BIOS logo. And as usual, nothing is actually known because ESN doesn't actually say anything about it.. it's all educated guesses and speculation..

What really tickles my funnybone is Palio's "Biotech", which is obvious copycatting...

I don't worry with the labels. Just whether the rubbers performance and longevity equal or surpass the price.

Up until very recently, ESN tended to use tacky topsheets on very hard, very solid sponges. It's only been in the last year or so that they've put tacky topsheets onto the kind of porous sponge we're more used to seeing on non-tacky ESN. K1 and K1+ both use large-pore sponges, for example, and from the initial pictures so does Golden Tango.

I like K1. Will try K1+ when I got back home from China in a month or so.

54 degrees is still pretty hard, no? Compare to the sponge hardnesses available for Rasanter - the hardest is 50 degrees, and that comes with a warning. MX-P comes with 47. Looked up Thor's, 50-55.

Unless I missed something during this couple of years... One brand's hardness degree can't be compared straight/as-is with other brands.
