Post subject:  Yinhe Big Dipper Replacement?

I need to find a replacement for yinhe big dipper.
I bought one a while ago and played for a week and put it away. then right before summer I slapped it on my bat just to test out, and it really impressed me. It has a lot of spin, lifts backspin well, and hits really well...

Anyways, I bought another sheet for my back up bat, and it isn't as tacky (its not extremely tacky anyways), isn't as spinny, I would say maybe 1/4 to 1/3 (rough estimate) less spin. It feels very.... mediocre in comparison to the other sheet.

I had heard they had some quality control issues with it, but didn't realize it was this bad.
I'm looking for something that plays similar to when it is good.

I was using h3 or tg2 before and liked them, but both have issues with being really heavy, need perfect execution to lift/loop backspin back, and tg2's throw is a bit too high for me.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a similar, but better QC product? Something I can expect the same thing from, everytime I buy?

Thanks.

You may try to clean the rubber with olive-oil, leave a very thin film that will be absorbed by the rubber. Chances are that your rubber will regain its tackiness.

I have little trouble with chinese products as of today, I usually buy 2+ sheets of rubbers, just in case one of it is bad.

I had the same kind of problem. Loved Big Dipper, but when it came to replace my sheets the next few I got were really different.

I still wanted a hybrid on my forehand though, and in the end I went with Tibhar Hybrid K1. It's ESN, made in germany, quality and consistency is much higher, similar kind of half-tack topsheet to Big Dipper, probably a bit faster though.

H3 provincial orange sponge. Lively softer sponge. $39 and top QC. Can easily last a year with amazing spin and control.

I won't say top QC as dhs rubber is still a gamble even now. Some time good, some time bad (top separating from sponge). I'm very disappointed as they actually have decades to improve on just this one line of model and yet still couldn't do the job right.

This goes to some other dhs rubber models as well, H8, H3-50 to name a few.

The Neo is much better and safer bet.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.
I started with h3 commercial and neo. I couldn't seem to get the put away speed (cause it's so heavy?) Switched to tg2 but never felt comfortable with the throw angle. Comes off the paddle high. Felt like Big Dipper had everything. Spin, enough speed, all of it.

So my question is does h3 provincial have some more speed?
How is h8?

Andy, I'm glad you're on here for me to ask your opinion.
I initially bought Big Dipper because of your mytt thread. I wanted to ask you what you are using. Good to know. Where does a person in the US find hybrid K1?

Thanks everyone.

This is the one problem with K1 (and the harder K1 Plus) - only available in asian markets. I get my sheets from ttnpp. Haven't had any issues.

Aren't there a whole slew of these "super Chinese" rubbers? 729 Battle and Battle II come to mind (forget which one is the tacky one..).

I suppose God's Crossbow misfired the second time around...

I've used to play with yinhe moon speed soft on my fh. Seems to be a good hybrid also. But don't buy it with cream colour sponge. Buy blue for black rubber and yellow for red one. :)

The rubber you are looking for is the 729 Battle II

You're welcome.

Yes I mean the Neo H3 provincial. Mine lasts for a long time given I am a power looper mid to far distance. I also boosted with 3 layers of oil.

And now the Dianchi provincial rubber has been tested by some provincial teams in China. It is said to offer even more spin than H3 provincial. But Dianchi requires a higher level of stroke.

Another Big Dipper replacement could be soulspin p16 st. It has been reviewed as very close to the Big Dipper, and I am pretty sure the quality control is OK. You can (only) find the rubber here: http://www.soulspin.tt/en/technology/ta ... bbers.html
