Can anyone please tell me how these rubbers differ, if they even do. I've heard they are the same rubbers with different colour sponge, is this even true or are there some subtle differences?

I'm thinking about Bluestorm Z2 for my modern defence game, fishing and countering on my forehand. What does the difference in sponge thickness do to these new rubbers?

How's spin production on them too?

Rasanter & Bluestorm are the same generation rubbers, using exactly the same technology, provided by the same Factory in Germany (ESN).
However the different manufacturers can still tweak the rubber & sponge to make some differences between the rubbers, like pimple length, sponge hardness, etc.

It would be really useful if someone, who's tried both Rasanter & Bluestorm, the tell us the differences, and which of the Rasanter/Bluestrom are the most similar.

The Z2 is certainly a very spinny rubber. A thinner sponge will give you more feel and control, but limits you offensive potential a little (Power loops will be flatter/less spinny with a thinner sponge, but smashes just as powerful).
