Relatively new inverted rubber from Armstrong.

Curiosity got the better of me, so I ordered a sheet. Not cheap, so I hope it's good. :sweat:
I'll add some comments after testing. In the meantime, if anyone has played it I'd be keen to hear your impressions.

Manufacturer's description (translated):

Received it yesterday. Looks and feels very nice with a soft non-tacky top-sheet and medium sponge. Maybe I’ll get motivated on the weekend and set up the ball machine but it will be a while before I can test it out properly against other players.

Manufacturer ratings are speed: 12 / spin: 12 / control: 8.5 / hardness 48°. But they don’t have any popular inverteds that most of us would be familiar with to compare it to. Their most popular rubber would be the standard version of the Attack 8 (MP) which on sponge they rate as: 9.5- / 6.5- / 8 / 40°.

Re Nexy Karis I’ve not tried it, but the reviews are interesting. The surface of SH-I is similarly non tacky. Don’t know if the pimples are so short, will inspect closer when fitting.

Got it mounted and tested for a couple hours today with ball machine. Black 1.8mm. Rather lively rubber, good control. Seems to have a lowish throw although that could be a blade factor. Hard to say...new blade as well. Compared with a couple other forehand rubbers I was using:

Speed: 402 DE > SH-I > Domination
Spin: 402 DE > SH-I = Dom
Control: Dom > SH-I > 402 DE

Bear in mind that the blades are all very different, from OFF- to DEF so not sure how useful the comparisons are. In reality I rate all 3 rubbers highly with regard to spin generation and control.

The pimples seem to be reasonably short and wide, though not to the extent of Karis.

I'll know more after I play with it properly against real competition, but with the Christmas holidays almost upon us it will likely be well into the new year before I know if I prefer this setup over my main one.

Thanks Dusty054, I had not heard of that one :up:

I'm pretty sure Armstrong have their own factory, so there's no reason it needs to be similar to other rubbers.

The Darker Jayro I have tried, and it quite a nice grippy long pimple, very good for chopping.

That's great. It's difficult to find reviews of it, I'm hoping that it goes ok over the table as well.

Decided in the end not to stick with the Jayro. Had a lot of fun chopping with it but it just seemed a little too conventional over the table.

As for the Armstrong SH-I, I like it more than ever. Wonderful feel and control, perhaps due mainly to the non-tacky soft and flexible top sheet. The same characteristics also make it excel at blocking. Has plenty of spin and more than enough speed for me.

Some I think. To me it feels more lively than a classic rubber but without the pronounced catapult of a Tensor.

Sounds similar to Nittaku Factive, if you've tried that one?
