Looks like my forehand rubber of many years is being discontinued. On top of that, Gambler decided not to continue to pay the ITTF approval fees. Therefore effective December 31 of this year, anyone using Reflectoid will no longer be allowed to use it in tournaments.

Gambler/Zeropong is really hanging their customers out to dry by not at least maintaining the ITTF approval for a few years. I have Reflectoid on all my blades plus I have a stockpile of new sheets. Not happy about this.

That's a shame. I did want to try a sheet at some point. Perhaps they just weren't selling as many sheets as they needed to, and were running low on stock. The decision would be whether to pay for another production run. Looks like Wraith and Shadow are going away as well - not that they'd be missed, I think, but Reflectoid seems unique.

It's one thing to discontinue manufacturing and selling it. It's another thing to cancel the ITTF approval without warning for the thousands of sheets still in active use by players. Butterfly and others maintain the approvals on discontinued products for years to be fair to their customers. Disappointed in Gambler.

Well you do get some warning, but I sympathize with you-reflectoid is a unique rubber. Do you play tournaments? If not I would just keep using it and not worry.

It costs money. Yes, ideally, they should keep it in the LARC for five years or so after stocks run out, but Gambler is a small company. They SHOULD have warned people a couple of years back, though, so people wouldn't stock up. Ah well, maybe they'll have a few remaining sheets on deep sale next year, when it's no longer approved. Problem is shipping - the US Government doesn't subsidize retail shipping like the Chinese Government does so it costs a bomb to ship stuff from the US.

I'm trying to remember what happened back in - when was it.. 2000? 2001? when ASTI went out of business and sold off all their stuff for $10 a sheet. I wasn't aware of a LARC back then, I wonder if there actually was one. I did get a pile of sheets (and the nicest net set I've ever owned, a blade or two, and several cans of speed glue and booster). (And then I quit playing a few months after that and I still have a few of them left, including some Imperial Fire that ASTI was OEM'ing.)
