What is the best Chinese "hybrid" rubber?

By hybrid, I mean having a tacky topsheet on top of a high tension/bouncy style sponge.

I have some old Tenergy rubbers.

I was thinking of gluing the underlying Tenergy sponge to a Chinese 999 topsheet and seeing how well that plays.

Has everybody tried this before?

Doesn't the sponge die before the topsheet? How about that Thor's rubber (in answer to the original question..)?

Does the sponge die before the topsheet? I have no idea.

Right now, the bounce seems just fine. It seems quite fast. Its just that the topsheet has no grip on it.

I strictly use these. I found the best to be yasaka rising dragon however I found it inconsistent batch to batch. Most consistant combined with quality is butterfly spin art

People say Tenergy loses it's oomph after a month or two (possibly the boosting chemicals wearing off). So this would be the sponge "dying".

Didn't used to be that way. The former Chinese National Team player that was at our university club for a couple years said that, in China (when he was playing), players would try different sheets of sponge until they found one they liked, and then when they needed to change rubber they'd just change the topsheet. Yes, he was one of those pips-out hitters that China was famous for in the 1960s/70s.

I have found Yasaka Rising Dragon one of the best hybrid rubbers I have tried. I unfortunately received some very early poor QA sheets but that got resolved pretty fast by Yasaka. You can't expect Chinese companies to replace/resolve their QA issues of their rubbers!

One really good thing to note about YRD is its lack of reactivity to any kind of boosting. No change in speed/spin/softness etc. The rubber does dome like crazy but when you stick it on the bat there is almost no perceptible difference.

Palio Thors has to be one of the often cursed at rubbers. Yellow cake sponge crumbles like a cake. You can't decently cut it without some serious skillz. And it isn't very durable ... 1 month and you start seeing fading where ball impacts the topsheet :-P

Lot of ppl seem to love Tibhar Hybrid K? K+ ? I havent got a try at it.

Isn't there some crazy Hybrid rubber from Yinhe/Galaxy ? Saturn ? Jupiter ? or something ? I think possibly Apollo 5 :-P There are sooo many versions of Yinhe Apollo ( I / II / III / V now ) I do believe each one is very different.

Almost every manufacturer has some kind of "Hybrid" rubber now .... Chinese rubber with Euro feel or something something .... Chinese rubber with Euro speed ... etc.

By Chinese hybrid we mean a Chinese brand that plays like a Euro or Jap rubber? Sorry to bust in on the thread with a noob question.

usually any brand that tries to combine traditional Chinese hard tacky/sticky slow spinny dense heavy properties with Euro and/or Jap properties that is not the usual type of rubber ... Chinese , Euro and Japanese are the 3 broad rubber categories. Combining them is usually difficult or impossible. Each region has its own secretive rubber manufacturing process.

The chemicals wear off a month or two after what? A month or two after the package is opened? or After the rubber is originally manufactured?

If the chemicals do indeed wear off, wouldnt they wear off after after initially manufactured?

A lot of people have not tried it, because it's only available from the China Tibhar distributor, they have exclusive right to the rubber.
I wonder if it's something like Joola Golden Tango perhaps?

I used Palio Thors for a whole season when I played years ago plus few months so maybe just over 1 year. I had 3 sheets in total because 1 of them was bad quality. My first sheet lasted a whole season which is 8-9months or something. I cleaned it with water after every session and put sticky film on it once dry. The other one I used and is still on one of my blades now. Never experienced it crumbling and didn't have a problem cutting it with scissors. The bad quality one I got wasn't tacky at all, and was effected in humidity so I gave it away.

It's a good hybrid, has a higher gears than the Hurricane 8 and 3-50 or skyline 3-60 but it still has the same issues as the other non boosted chinese rubbers just not as much. I didn't boost this rubber either. But at your own risk with the quality control.

729 Battle I or II maybe ? Or one of the 729 ST Cross or 729-08 ES maybe ? Im not sure if it falls under 20 USD or in the hybrid category but it might be and cost approx ~ 20 or 25 USD.

Also Chinese Hybrid rubber is mostly for ppl who are either stuck with Euro rubber or stuck with Chinese rubber. And I feel, from my experience, that the purpose is for either players looking to transition from one rubber category to another. Or looking to cover some form of weakness in either Euro or Chinese rubber.

I use Chinese Hybrid becos I don't have muscle / body to impart more power. Either too spinny or too flat. So there was no consistency with the same stroke. With the YRD I am able to push/block/open-loop/flick close to the table, loop/loop-drive/block/push mid-table and counter-loop/smash/block far-table.

I had confidently increased speed/spin with my consistency using YRD. So now I got YSD which is more traditional Chinese. I used to use Rakza7 or Xiom Omega V Tour. Now I went with YRD --> YSD. And I can use 729 OEM or H3/H2 any other Chinese-type rubbers effectively. More confidence, more consistency, etc.
