Some of you may have noticed the Tenergy 05 HARD being listed on the latest LARC 2018A This may be just a Tenergy 05 with a firmer sponge, but of course they would not have needed to create a seperate listing on the LARC if only the sponge changed. There are also a few other Butterfly names on the list that we've not seen on the market yet, like: 028 Dignics 05 In 029 Dignics 80 In 030 Dignics 64 In 031 Tenergy 05N In 032 Tenergy 09C In It's pretty obvious they're trying to cash in not only on the Tenergy name, but also on the 05, 80 and 64. Does anyone have any further information on any of these rubbers? |

Yeah, you wonder about Dignics. Apparently 05, 80 and 64 refer to particular topsheet configurations (pips density, height, etc.) using the Tenergy topsheet rubber formulation, so if they're reusing the numbers, then maybe they're using the same configurations with a different rubber formula. Or maybe the same pips attached to an ultra-thin top layer (thin top layers seem to be in vogue). I suppose we'll just have to wait and see. And then there's Tenergy 09! Wonder why the "C". "Chop"?? I'm very curious as to what Dignics will be, maybe they are trying to make use of their Micro Layer feature combined with Tenergy? Also, if what Iskandar says is true about the C referring to "Chop" and this new Tenergy is going to be catered towards a more defensive rubber, oh yeeesss I am going to try that out if this speculation is accurate. My only wish is that it would retain a hardness of at least 35 on Butterfly's scale, 'cause honestly even Tenergy 05 doesn't feel that hard, and I'm using the GPS version of Mark V. |

Here is what it looks like:

From what we can see, it would be an Anti-dust T05 rubber surface to repel a dust scurf away. Non tacky rubber formula. A good thing for using in Africa desert with a dusty, sandy flooring. |

This rubber will be available in Australia around mid Nov, some countries seem to have it already on the release date of Nov 1st. Picture is some further info from Butterfly. Anyone tried it yet?

Just my two cents. 05 hard is probably the pro version of T05 that gets used by pro players and now BTY are making it commercial available to the public to cash in on Tenergy before they phase in something new. Guessing sales have declined and BTY are re-marketing there product for players to come and try out what most likely is what the pro's use. I understand that there is a blue sponge tenergy which is supposedly boosted, this may well be it just changed to the colour of sponge and not boosted. The new rubber line must be designed from the ground up to suit the poly ball. Probably a different top sheet could not be much else. There probably going to release some new blades soon too. BTY have done a lot of pro signature blades so I can see them releasing a new line of poly ball designed alc blades for the market with the new dignics rubber. Probably be expensive. Will make them a boat load of money, will have the market share of equipment on the circuit and everyone will play catch up again. |

They have been developing something for quite some time but probably want to release these new products onto the market once they regain a foothold with 05 hard. BTY are masters of marketing table tennis goods. http://homepage-seisakujo.jp/blog/pingpong/tt_goods/732/

Huh. I didn't notice that there was a Dignics with no number. Definitely not one of the new rubbers - note the number - 017 - maybe it's been out all this while? Note that right before 017 = Dignics, you have 013 = Addoy, 014 = Wakaba, 015 = Pan Asia, 016 = Yuki. You know where THESE are found, right? 018 = Tenergy 80. Tenergy is hardly new - it's been out ten years already! And all the lists of rubbers used by pros has it on top by a huge margin. Still. After 10 years. Maybe other rubbers outsell it now, but it's still the number 1 choice among pros. Even those sponsored by other companies. haggisv wrote: Some of you may have noticed the Tenergy 05 HARD being listed on the latest LARC 2018A This may be just a Tenergy 05 with a firmer sponge, but of course they would not have needed to create a seperate listing on the LARC if only the sponge changed. I think they made the separate listing because it is in line with their marketing policy (note the FX versions). Butterfly doesn't sell more than one version of the same rubber with the same topsheet and different sponges unless the topsheet (and rubber) gets a different name and its own entry in the LARC. I suppose they can afford it while smaller companies can't. Iskandar |

Yes, Butterfly themselves have confirmed it has the same topsheet as the Tenergy 05 (makes sense, why mess with a top selling product!), and only the sponge is harder. Feedback I've heard so far is that it's less bouncy for the short game, but more powerful and spinny at the top end.... which is pretty much what you'd expect if you only change the sponge to something harder. |

iskandar taib wrote: Sounds like a H3 alternative, no? Iskandar No, definitely a step up from commercial H3. More like H3 Provincial, not quite the same level as National. Ofcourse, nothing compares to National Blue . |

personally I don' think Tenergy is anything like ANY of the Hurricane versions... the only thing that's close is the price (for some of them). |
