Hi! I use Xiom Omega V Pro on a low-throw blade Stiga Carbonado 190 for my FH game. With the ABS ball I have troubles getting an arc when looping. Many balls go to the net.

Has any of you tried going to softer rubber (Xiom Omega V Europe in this case) to get a higher throw? Would it help? A lot? Very little?

OK, depending on Your and opponent stroke speed, or total ball momentum,

There 3 situations,
- Soft rubber, like Tackiness Chop, coupled with thin enough sponge, would have high throw at low speed, but the rubber bottoming out soon, which gave low throw at medium and high speed. LP chopper, blocker, and driver love this.
- Hard rubber, like Hurricane 3 or Tenergy 64, coupled with thick enough sponge, would have low throw at low speed, but the rubber bottoming out very late, may never bottoming out at Your and Your opponent combined maximum stroke speed, which gave high throw and high speed. Looper and chinese chopper love this.
- There should be ideal sponge hardness for Each Own. For One may be Tenergy 05. For other may be Rozena.

How about some of the ultra-spinny softer rubbers, like Rakza 7 or Baracuda? Spinny means high throw by definition, since it's the spin that makes the arc.

Spin is very good with Xiom Omega V. Just need a little higher throw.

In my experience going to a Europe will definitely help. Vega Europe is great but can bottom out in strong loop vs loop rallies. Omega 4 Europe is a good alternative.

In my experience the softer versions always have higher throw. Not a lot but noticeable.

Actually I have to ask, I have favoured the softest sponge of the series as I like to receive a nice loop and feed it back with a soft hand contacting slightly to give back some of the spin. But I am wondering if this also bottoms out as sometimes I get surprised when it doesn't quite go over the net. It is most likely simply me not putting enough umph but curious if it is possibly bottoming out

Probably just not enuff umph. With Vega Europe I only notice bottoming-out when I counter-loop a hard loop. Sometimes I can feel the ball go thru to the wood.

I do not like soft inverted rubbers but I switched to softer blade because of new spinless balls.

Have a look at the excellent Carbonada 145 & 190 Table Tennis Daily you tube reviews with top players like Fan Zhendong.

They comment on the 190 having a low direct throw needing a more open blade angle, whilst the slightly slower and more flexible 145 was easier to use with a higher throw and better control.

So sounds like switching to the 145 may be your best option for the ABS ball.

Actually I am thinking on Carbonado 45. But they are expensive....

It's all in the legs...not so much in the rubber as long as it's quality. I feel like hard tacky chinese rubber is the easiest to lift backspin.

Risky to go too soft, once the rubber bottoms out you lose all sense of control.
